Binghamton, N.Y. – Freshman
Lorenzo Bortolaso (Bassano del Grappa, Italy/IT IS Enrico Fermi) recorded four victories to lead the Le Moyne College men's tennis team at the Binghamton University Mock Duals Friday through Sunday at the Lane-Starke Tennis Center.
Bortolaso earned two wins in singles action and two victories during doubles play. After dropping his first match on Saturday, he defeated Fabio Varella from Siena, 6-2, 6-3. He then was a 6-4, 6-3 winner on Sunday against Michael Zhang from Army West Point.
He teamed with classmate
Callum Matthew () in doubles action. On Saturday, they were 6-2 victors over Kyle Weekes and Andre Ajed from Binghamton. They closed out the weekend with a 7-5 win over Monmouth's Mateo Bivol and Louis Keller.
Matthew also earned a singles victory, 6-2, 6-4, on Saturday over Niagara's Jose Garcia, while falling in a close match on Sunday.
Senior
Peter Hatton (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt/Club Med Academics/Army West Point) won the only matches he played. In singles action, he recorded back-to-back scores of 6-2 over Emilio Salinas from Siena. He teamed with freshman
Luke Hoyland (Sheffield, England/Birkdale School) for a 7-6 (8-6) victory over Monmouth's Jakob Bonnett and Adam Hillerby.
Freshman
Navya Verma (Patiala, India) went 1-1 in singles action. Following a loss on Friday, he rallied on Saturday to defeat James McPherson from Binghamton, 3-6, 6-3, 11-9.
Sophomore
Yegor Boyev (London, England/Ashcroft Technology Academy) also had a singles and a doubles win. In between a pair of setbacks, he defeated Tomas Andreotti from Siena, 6-0, 2-6, 10-7. On Friday, he teamed with freshman
Jacob Maravillas for a 6-4 win over Niagara's Rohan Srivastava and Gurustat Makkar.
The Dolphins return to action with the start of their dual meet schedule on Saturday, January 25 at Dartmouth College.
