Later in the season, Niagara University will travel to St. Bonaventure to take on the Bonnies on Saturday, Dec. 21 before meeting Le Moyne on their home court just over a week later on Sunday, Dec. 29.
Dolphins' Season:
Le Moyne will continue their road trip as they last took on #3 UConn in Hartford, Conn. on Wednesday night. The Huskies came away with a 90-49 victory to remain undefeated at 3-0 on the young season.
The loss came days after the Dolphins grabbed their first win of the season against the SUNY Poly Wildcats, 107-73, on Saturday, Nov. 9. Le Moyne had previously fallen to Syracuse in a close game, 86-82, before dropping their home opener against CSUN.
Redshirt junior forward
Dwayne Koroma (Berlin, Germany/Iona/Salt Lake C.C./UT Arlington) registered the team-high in scoring for the second-straight game with 13 points on 67 percent shooting from the field. Koroma also added a team-leading five rebounds against UConn.
Junior forward
Freds Pauls Bagatskis (Riga, Latvia/Complejo Educativo Mas Camarena/Georgia Tech/UT Arlington) trailed with 11 points, nine of which came in the second half, as the only other Dolphin in the double-digits. Bagatskis drained a trio of three-points en route to his second highest point total of the season.
Sophomore guard
AJ Dancler (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport) led the squad with three assists while adding five points in 25 minutes on the court.
Le Moyne's efficiency improved drastically in the second half as they finished out the final 20Â minutes shooting 44% from the field, including 40% from behind the arc.
Through four games, the Dolphins lead in three-pointers made, free throw percentage, and steals over their opponents.
A Look at the Bonnies:
St. Bonaventure is 3-0 to start the 2024-25 campaign, with wins coming against CSUN in their home opener and Canisius and FGCU on the road this past week. The Bonnies came out on top against the Golden Griffins, 87-78, on Saturday, Nov. 9, before dropping the Eagles, 74-65, on Wednesday, Nov. 13.
St. Bonaventure is coming off a 2023-24 season in which they went 20-13 overall and 9-9 in conference. Their season was cut short by Duquesne in the semifinal round of the Atlantic 10 Tournament. The Bonnies last won the A-10 and made an appearance in the NCAA Tournament in 2021.
So far this season, the Bonnies have four players averaging double-digits including guard Chance Moore who is currently totaling 21.0 points per game, nearly 10 more than the next closest on the roster. Moore is shooting nearly 53% from the field while also leading in rebounds per game (7.7) and steals (7), while being tied for first in blocks with three on the young season.
Guards Dasonte Bowen and Melvin Council Jr., a transfer from defending NEC Tournament champion Wagner, have played a very similar role for St. Bonaventure so far this season, as they both average 11.3 points and have the two highest assist totals on the year with 11 and 10, respectively, in about 30 minutes of action per game.
Center Noel Brown has also played a pivotal role for the Bonnies, as he rounds out their double-digit scorers by averaging 10.3 points this year. Brown reached his season high in the team's most recent win over FGCU, scoring 13 while shooting at a 67% rate and also adding two rebounds, one block, and one steal against the Eagles.
Guard Lajae Jones rounds out the Bonnies' attack as he has contributed an average of nearly nine points and five rebounds through three games.
While the Bonnies have only outscored their opponents by less than 11 points to start the season, they are shooting 45% from behind the arc and averaging over 18 made free throws per game.
