San Juan, Puerto Rico – The Le Moyne College women's basketball dropped its second game at the Puerto Rico Clasico to the University of Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles on Saturday at Ruben Rodriguez Coliseum.
USI shot 50.8% (31-61) from the field and scored 36 points in the paint to improve to 7-1 on the year.
Senior guard Vanessa Shafford led the way for the Screaming Eagles with 18 points on 7-12 from the field, including 4-6 from three-point range to go along with eight rebounds, while junior guard Ali Saunders tallied 16 points, six assists, five rebounds and two steals.
Le Moyne junior guard
Sierra Linnin (Valley Cottage, N.Y./Albertus Magnus) knocked down four threes for the Dolphins in her second game back from injury to finish with a team-high 12 points off the bench.
Sophomore guard
Zhara Adeyemi (Brooklyn, N.Y./South Shore) and graduate guard
Megan Bodziony (Wakefield, R.I./St. Andrew's School/Fordham/Bryant) each added six points, and senior forward
Brianna Williams (Brampton, Ontario/Southwest Academy/Hartford) pulled down a game-high and season-high 10 rebounds to go along with three assists and two blocks in her second consecutive start.
Adeyemi shot 4-6 from the line during the contest, marking career highs in free throws made and free throws attempted for the sophomore from Brooklyn.
Le Moyne will play its second home game of the season against Boston University on December 5 at Ted Grant Court, then they will host UMass Lowell on December 7.
