Bogota, N.J. – The Le Moyne College men's tennis team earned its first Northeast Conference victory on Saturday night with a 4-3 win over FDU at the Bogota Racquet Club.
The Dolphins opened the match by sweeping the doubles competition. At the first position, graduate students
Alvaro Nunez and
Leon Grundstroem registered a 6-4 win over Thomas Linley and Gryffin Minor. Junior
Peter Hatton and graduate student
Luka Stojanovic tallied a 6-3 victory at the second position over Joshua Oboniye and Asah Schwartz. Graduate students
Kacper Piekarek and
Rodrigo Beires edged Tauras Mickus and Matias Neira and the third spot, 7-6 (9-7).
The Knights evened the match at one point apiece as Arjun Sriram topped Stojanovic at the second position, 6-3, 6-2. Alvaro put the Dolphins back in front with a 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 victory at the third spot over Linley. Hatton extended the lead by recording a 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 win over Oboniye at the first position. Grundstroem clinched the match for the Dolphins with a 6-4, 6-3 victory at the fourth spot over Minor. Schwartz claimed the point at the sixth spot, 6-1, 6-4 over freshman
Yegor Boyev, while Mickus was a 6-1, 3-6, 10-6 winner at the fifth position over Piekarek.
Le Moyne (4-3, 1-2 NEC) is back in action on Sunday against Wagner College at 6:30 p.m. at the College of Staten Island Tennis Courts.
