BUFFALO RECORDS 6-1 WIN OVER MEN’S TENNIS

Williamsville, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo swept the singles matches to defeat the Le Moyne College men's tennis team, 6-1, on Wednesday afternoon at the Miller Tennis Center.

Le Moyne claimed the point in the doubles competition by winning two of the three matches. At the top spot, graduate students Alvaro Nunez (Jerez De La Frontera, Spain/IES Padre Luis Coloma/Southwest Baptist) and Leon Grundstroem (Hoganas, Sweden/Filborna Gymnasium/Northwood) improved to 8-1 in dual matches with a 6-2 win over Cheng Tang and Yu-Shiang Huang. Junior Peter Hatton (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt/Club Med Academics/Army West Point) and Luka Stojanovic (Paracin, Serbia/Kosta Cukic/University of Incarnate Word/Lipscomb) moved to 4-1 at the second position with a 6-4 victory over Theodoros Mitsakos and Finn Macnamara. Daniils Snaiders and Artem Alekseychuk prevented the sweep with a 6-2 win at the third spot over graduate students Kacper Piekarek (Wroclaw, Poland/Autorskrie Licea Artystyczne Akademickie/Missouri-Kansas City) and Rodrigo Beires (Porto, Portugal/Agrupamento de Escolas Garcia de Orta/Universidade Portucalense).
 
Buffalo handed the Dolphins their first sweep of the singles competition this year. Tang edged Hatton at the top spot, 7-5, 4-6, 10-7. Snaiders turned in a 6-0, 6-2 win at the second position over Nunez. Alekseychuk recorded a 7-5, 6-7 (5-7), 10-4 victory over Stojanovic at the third spot. Mitsakos defeated Grundstroem at the fourth position, 6-2, 7-6 (7-5). Huang won against Piekarek at the fifth spot, 6-4, 6-2, while Macnamara handed freshman Yegor Boyev (London, England/Ashcroft Technology Academy) a 6-2, 6-1 loss.
 
Le Moyne (6-5) returns to the courts on Sunday at Bucknell at 11:00 a.m.
