Fairfield, Conn. – Sacred Heart University had a trio of players record hat tricks en route to a 15-7 victory over the Le Moyne College men's lacrosse team on Sunday afternoon at Campus Field.
The Pioneers opened the game with the first four goals. Following four and one-half minutes of scoreless play, Jake Ward tallied his sixth goal of the season off a pass from Ryan Rooney. Just over three minutes later, Morgan O'Reilly netted his 17th goal of the campaign after collecting a pass from Sal Miccio in an extra-man situation. Ward finished off another feed from Rooney 57 seconds later. Miccio completed the streak with 3:06 remaining in the opening quarter with his sixth goal of the year.

Olin Stanat (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton) got the Dolphins on the scoreboard with five second remaining in the opening quarter off a pass from senior attackman
Joey Pezzimenti (Victor, N.Y./Victor/UAlbany).
The teams combined for three goals in the opening four minutes of the second quarter, but neither team scored over the final 11 minutes. Will Moulton pushed Sacred Heart's lead back to four with his sixth goal of the year at the 13:49 mark off a pass from Carson Spooner. The Dolphins answered back at the 12:06 mark as redshirt freshman attackman
Thomas Berry (Tully, N.Y./Tully) registered his third goal of the season after taking a feed from Pezzimenti. O'Reilly completed the half's scoring 66 seconds later after receiving a dish from Michael Moreschi.
The Pioneers opened the scoring in the second half just 1:09 into the third quarter on Ward's third goal of the game.
Pezzimenti answered back 68 seconds later with his third goal of the season.
Sacred Heart followed with its second four-goal run of the game. Moulton ignited the run at the 11:07 mark off a pass from Jake Candelino. He scored again with 8:36 remaining. O'Reilly got the Pioneers into double digits with 7:08 left off a feed from Ward. Following a scramble off the ensuing faceoff, long-pole David Creo netted his first goal of the season with 6:51 remaining.
Le Moyne scored the final two goals of the quarter to trim its deficit to six. Redshirt junior
Ethan Loun (West Linn, Ore./West Linn) found the back of the net for the fourth time this season with 3:30 left off a pass in transition from graduate student midfielder
Jack Grooms (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill/Hobart). Senior short-stick defensive midfielder
Max Cramer (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) tallied his third career goal with five seconds left in the period off a feed from senior attackman
Seth Benedict (Stanley, N.Y./Marcus Whitman).
The Pioneers scored the first four goals of the fourth quarter to take their largest lead of the contest. Tim Kiely netted his first goal just under two and one-half minutes into the quarter. Miccio scored his second goal of the day just 49 seconds later. Moreschi followed with his fourth goal of the season with 9:15 remaining. Spooner capped his team's scoring with 7:58 to play off a pass from Miccio.
Le Moyne scored the final two goals of the game over the last 77 seconds. Junior midfielder
Ryan Eisenmann (Boca Raton, Fla./Boca Raton) tallied his second goal of the season with 1:17 to play and then sophomore attackman
Owen Wilson (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) scooped up a loose ball and dumped it into the net with 21 seconds left for his first goal of the year.
Redshirt freshman goalkeeper
Carter Ruhm (Apalachin, N.Y./Vestal/Bridgton Academy/Robert Morris) recorded seven saves over 50:45 in the setback. Alex Pazienza turned away 12 shots (against five goals) over 53:40 for the Pioneers.
Le Moyne (1-1), which falls to 1-3 all-time against the Pioneers dating back to the mid-1990s when both programs played at the Division II level, plays its third straight MAAC opponent to start the year, Siena College, on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m.
