Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne men's lacrosse team looks to turn things around when it visits Bucknell on Friday night. The matchup marks the first ever contest between the Dolphins and Bison.
Â
Bucknell has struggled in 2024. The Bison have won just one of their last six games. They are competitive though, losing by just two to Loyola Maryland on Saturday, April 6. Bucknell's three wins this season have come against Dartmouth, Holy Cross, and Lafayette. Le Moyne faces both Lafayette and Holy Cross in its last two games of the season.
Â
The Bison are at their best when playing at home. Bucknell is 3-2 at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium and winless on the road. The Bison are yet to string together a winning streak this campaign. They lost a season-worst four straight contests between March 9 and March 23. Opponents average nearly three more goals per game than Bucknell. The Bison also have just 59 assists. That's despite the fact that Bucknell has outshot its foes this season.
Â
Junior attacker Connor Davis heavily leads the Bison in scoring this year. Davis has 31 goals, which is 15 more than any other Bucknell player. The 2022 Patriot League Rookie of the Year has 25 or more goals in all three of his collegiate seasons thus far. In 2024 specifically, Davis has six hat-tricks. He hit the back of the net a season-high seven times against Lafayette on March 30. He's taken at least three shots in all but two contests this season. Davis is coming off a three-goal game in Bucknell's latest loss at Loyola Maryland.
Â
Sophomore attacker Michael Meyer tops Bucknell in assists. Meyer has nine assists this season to go along with 16 goals. He's tallied three assists on two separate occasions in 2024. Meyer has also been on a scorching stretch in front of net recently. He's coming off a season-best five goals against Loyola. Meyer has 10 goals in his last three matchups. He's recorded a point in eight of his 11 appearances.
Â
The Bison have two more regular season contests before the Patriot League Championships. Bucknell faces Army and Navy before wrapping up its season.
Â
For Le Moyne, it'll look to kick off some rust on Friday. The Dolphins haven't played since losing 21-10 against ranked Yale on March 26. Le Moyne has dropped three straight games for the second time this season.
Â
Despite the loss, attacker
Ethan Loun recorded a season-high four goals and an assist. The redshirt junior hadn't notched a hat-trick since the Dolphins' opening win against Wagner on February 17. Loun has scored in all eight of his appearances. He leads the Dolphins with 16 goals and 21 points this season.
Â
Senior Midfielder
Kyle Caves also performed well against Yale. Caves tallied his first multi-goal game of the year, scoring three times. He more than doubled his season total, which currently sits at five. Caves also recorded six shots against the Bulldogs.
Â
Just four players found the back of the net in Le Moyne's latest contest. The loss tied the Dolphins' worst of the season. Le Moyne also lost by 11 goals against Hobart College on March 10.
Â
After facing Bucknell, the Dolphins round out their 2024 season against Lafayette and Holy Cross. Le Moyne heads to Easton, Pennsylvania, to face Lafayette on Friday, April 19. The Dolphins then return home for the final time against Holy Cross on Thursday, April 25.
