SIENA SWEEPS SOFTBALL ON THURSDAY; 6-1, 11-0

Loudonville, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College softball team (14-31, 5-10 NEC) traveled to compete against Siena College (24-19, 7-10 MAAC) for a non-conference doubleheader Thursday. The Saints swept the Dolphins 6-1, and 11-0.
 
First Game:
The Saints started the first game of today's doubleheader with a run in the bottom of the first. Isabella Pardo doubled to left field landing on first then Chloe Cummings would bring her home by reaching on a throwing error by first base (1-0).
 
No runs were made until the bottom of the fourth where the Saints scored four more runs. Mikala Fletcher singled to left and advanced to second as Madi Silber and Mary Mikalsen both scored (4-0). Pardo then singled up the middle and both McKenzie Swinson and Fletcher scored giving the Saints a 5-0 lead.
 
The Dolphins added a run to the board in the top of the sixth starting out with a double from junior right fielder Alyssa Dybacz (Baldwinsville, N.Y. / Charles W. Baker) to right center. Dybacz then advanced to third during junior second baseman Dominique Rinaldi's (Sayville, NY/Sayville) at-bat. Redshirt junior third baseman Frankie Larobardiere (North Syracuse, N.Y. / Cicero-North Syracuse/ Onondaga C.C.) then reached on a fielding error by the left fielder and advanced to second as Dybacz scored (1-5).
 
Siena scored the last and final run in the sixth from an interference which Fletcher scored on. The final score of game one was 6-1, Siena.
 
Second Game:
During the second game, the Dolphins weren't able to put a run on the board, but were able to register three hits. In the top of the first Rinaldi singled to left field and Larobardiere singled down the left field line. Dybacz then singled to left center during the top of the third.
 
Siena scored 11 runs during the second game today. In the first, Fletcher started by reaching on a fielding error by first base as Pardo scored (1-0). Avamarie Perry then hit a sacrifice fly out to center field bringing home Cummings (2-0). In the second, Jocelyn Ulrich doubled to left center and brought home Pardo. Emma Peterson then reached on a fielding error by third base and advanced to second as Ulrich and Cummings both scored (5-0). Fletcher then singled up the middle and Peterson scored giving the Saints a 6-0 lead.
 
In the bottom of the third, Cummings grounded out as Swinson scored for the Saints (7-0). Ulrich hit a single through the right side and brought home Pardo again (8-0). Fletcher then singled to center and advanced to second as Ulrich came home (9-0). For their final runs of the day, Perry doubled to left center as both Fletcher and Peterson scored solidifying an 11-0 lead that the Saints would carry into the fifth, clinching the shutout victory.  
 
The Dolphin's next game will be Saturday, April 27th at Sacred Heart for a conference series. The series will start with a doubleheader at 1pm and 3pm on Saturday and will finish with the last game starting at 12pm on Sunday at New Pioneer Park – Fairfield, Conn.
