Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College volleyball team kicked off the 2024 season with a matchup against Lafayette College in the Salt City Invitational. The Leopards took all three sets to win the match with set scores of; 25-11, 25-23, 25-21.
For the Dolphins, freshman outside hitter Jordyn Hamlin (Manahawkin, N.J. / Southern Regional) led the squad with 10 kills, while also tallying four digs. Sophomore middle hitter Branywn Lupton (Napanee, O.N. / Napanee District Secondary School) recorded six kills and two blocks, junior setter Haley Gerken (Buffalo, N.Y. / Frontier) guided the offense with 22 assists and five digs, and junior middle hitter Kayla Anstett (Rochester N.Y. / Hilton) had four kills, two blocks, and one service ace. Freshman outside hitter Piper Hooey (Elmira, N.Y. / Elmira) tallied one kill, two service aces, and three digs for the 'Phins.
For the Leopards, Emma Patmon recorded team-highs in kills with nine and digs with seven. Abby Nieporte recorded eight kills and four block assists followed by Irelynd Lorenzen who had three kills, two service aces, and seven blocks. Mackenzie Calhoun tallied 16 assists, while Anna Penman had ten assists and five digs. Carol Ulichney had seven kills, three assists, and three blocks.
The Dolphins will continue play in the Salt City Invitational against Canisius University later tonight, Aug. 30 at 7:00 P.M.
