VOLLEYBALL TRAVELS ACROSS TOWN, TAKEN DOWN BY SYRACUSE

Syracuse, N.Y.  – The Le Moyne College volleyball team fell to Syracuse University on the road Thursday night. The Dolphins are now 1-6 on the year after dropping the first three sets 25-18, 25-11, 25-18 to the Orange.

For the Dolphins, freshman outside hitter Nina Salas (Austin, T.X. / McNeil) led the squad with eight kills, while sophomore middle hitter Branwyn Lupton (Napanee, O.N. / Napanee District Secondary School) (six), junior middle hitter Kayla Anstett (Rochester, N.Y. / Hilton) (five), and freshman middle hitter Anaya Rawlinson (Whitby, O.N. / Sinclair Secondary School) (five) followed closely behind. Junior setter/DS Haley Gerken (Buffalo, N.Y. / Frontier) recorded a team-high 13 assists in the match, while freshman setter Skylar Jehlen (Rochester, N.Y. / Churchville Chili) tallied another 12 for Le Moyne. On defense, freshman libero/DS Brooke Menke (St. Louis, M.O. / Visitation Academy) led the way with 15 digs, followed by freshman outside hitter Jordyn Hamlin (Manahawkin, N.J. / Southern Regional) (nine) and freshman outside hitter Denali Louden (Murrieta, C.A. / Murrieta Mesa) (six). Anstett also tallied the high in blocks with three for the Dolphins.

For Syracuse, Anastasiia Nikolnikova recorded team-highs in kills with 10 and blocks with seven. Skylar George recorded another eight kills and two digs for the Orange. Mira Ledermueller tallied a game-high 31 assists while adding a team-high nine digs along with Ava Palm and Greta Schlichter. Palm added five service aces in the win.

The Dolphins will be right back on the road tomorrow night, Friday, Sept. 20, as they travel to Ithaca, N.Y. to take on Cornell University at 7:00 P.M.
