Cookeville, Tenn. – Sophomore catcher Mack Whitcomb tallied two hits, two runs, two RBIs and two walks to lead the Tennessee Tech University Golden Eagles to a 4-1 victory over the Le Moyne College baseball team in the fourth and final game of a non-conference series on Sunday at TTU's Quillen Field.
Freshman right-handed pitcher Carter Casabella delivered a quality start for the Golden Eagles, limiting the Dolphins to two hits, three walks and zero runs with three strikeouts over 5.0 innings to help TTU complete the series sweep to begin the 2025 campaign.

Jack Cannon (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) recorded a team-high two hits for the Dolphins, freshman shortstop
Dominick Russ (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) drew three walks, recorded his second stolen base of the series and provided Le Moyne's lone RBI, while sophomore second baseman
Mike Whelehan (Hilton, N.Y./Hilton) contributed a base hit and a run scored.

Colin Skermont (Yorkville, N.Y./Whitesboro/Herkimer College) started game four on the mound, making his first appearance as a Dolphin, and tallied six strikeouts with three hits and one earned run allowed in 4.0 innings of work.

Luke Connors (Brampton, Ontario/Heart Lake/Monroe Community College) and graduate right-hander
Joel Connors (Brampton, Ontario/Heart Lake/Lakeland Community College/St. Andrew's/St. Bonaventure) each tossed 2.0 innings in relief for the 'Phins. In his second appearance of the weekend,
Joel Connors conceded just one hit, one walk and zero runs with one strikeout in the final two innings of the contest.
In the top of the first, Russ drew a walk, stole second, and advanced to third on a wild pitch, but Casabella got a ground ball to end the inning and strand Russ 90 feet from the plate.
The Golden Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first as Whitcomb drove a triple to right-center field, bringing in shortstop Owen Lee.
Casabella worked around a leadoff walk to
Tyler Campbell (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill/Onondaga C.C.) in the top of the second, then Skermont recorded two strikeouts during a scoreless bottom of the second.
Le Moyne put runners on second and third with one out in the top of the fourth, but Casabella got two consecutive ground balls to the right side to end the threat and keep the Dolphins scoreless.
TTU doubled its lead in the bottom of the fourth as third baseman Jackson Rooker scored on a wild pitch.
The Golden Eagles extended their lead to 3-0 in the fifth as designated hitter Aaron Moffitt drew a bases loaded walk to drive in Whitcomb.
Whitcomb smashed a home run over the right-center field wall in the bottom of the sixth to make it 4-0 in favor of TTU.
Le Moyne scored its lone run in the top of the seventh. Whelehan singled through the left side to leadoff the frame, then Cannon ripped a single to right field that allowed Whelehan to advance to third. Junior center fielder
Paulie Goodness (Palmyra, N.Y./Palmyra-Macedon/Finger Lakes Community College) was hit by a pitch to load the bases, then Russ drew a two-out, bases-loaded walk on a 3-2 pitch to bring in Whelehan and cut Le Moyne's deficit to 4-1.
TTU reliever Drew Mattox recorded a 1-2-3 inning in the top of the ninth to close out the win and register his first save of the season.
The Le Moyne baseball team will return to action next Friday at Presbyterian College.
