Hackensack, N.J. – The FDU Knights improved to 12-0 in Northeast Conference play, and extended its winning streak to a program record 15 games with a 65-46 victory over the Le Moyne College women's basketball team Thursday at FDU's Bogota Savings Bank Center, where the Knights are now 12-0 this season.
Freshman guard Ava Renninger (14), junior forward Lilly Parke (13), graduate guard Abaigeal Babore (11), and graduate forward Teneisia Brown (10) each scored in double figures for the Knights, with Brown adding a game-high 11 rebounds and a game-high six assists to register her 11
th double-double of the season.
Le Moyne junior guard
Sierra Linnin (Valley Cottage, N.Y./Albertus Magnus) led Le Moyne in scoring with 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the field and 4-of-8 from three-point range, marking the 11
th time this season that she has recorded at least three three-point field goals in a game.
Graduate forward
Haedyn Roberts (Holland Patent, N.Y./Holland Patent) registered eight points, six rebounds, two steals and a block for the 'Phins, graduate guard
Megan Bodziony (Wakefield, R.I./St. Andrew's School/Fordham/Bryant) contributed seven points and four rebounds, and freshman guard
Eli Clark (Oakhurst, N.J./Ocean Township) dished out a team-high four assists to go along with two three-point field goals.
The Knights knocked down 12 three-point field goals during the win, the most they have recorded against a Division I opponent this season, and grabbed 14 offensive rebounds, compared to seven for Le Moyne. The Dolphins limited to FDU to three free throw attempts, and shot 6-of-8 from the line themselves.
Linnin knocked down two threes in the opening quarter, while Clark converted her first triple of the game, and Bodziony and junior guard
Michelina Lombardi (Wynantskill, N.Y./Averill Park) each scored a basket in the paint as the Dolphins remained even with the Knights at 13-13 through the first 10 minutes of action.
A corner three from Clark with 8:07 left in the second gave Le Moyne a 16-13 lead, then FDU responded with a quick 8-0 burst to take a lead that they would not relinquish.
Three pointers from graduate guard Abby Conklin and Park at the 4:11 and 2:16 marks in the second sandwiched a layup from senior guard
Emily Florvil (Brooklyn, N.Y./Nazareth) as the Knights took a 27-20 lead into the intermission.
Both teams had their best shooting quarter in the third. The Knights shot 9-of-15 in the penultimate frame, while Le Moyne went 7-of-12 from the field during the period. The two sides traded baskets throughout the 10 minutes, but FDU outscored the 'Phins 21-18 during the stanza to extend its lead to 48-38 heading into the fourth. Renninger scored nine of her points during the third, including FDU's final three field goals of the period.
FDU held Le Moyne to 3-of-12 shooting in the fourth to expand its lead and remain undefeated in NEC play.
The Le Moyne College women's basketball team will return to action Saturday when they host LIU at Ted Grant Court for a 12:00 p.m. conference matchup. Le Moyne will celebrate 'Senior Day' prior to tipoff against the Sharks.
