Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College women's basketball recorded an 83-53 Northeast Conference victory over the LIU Sharks Saturday at Ted Grant Court on 'Senior Day'.
Le Moyne shot 46.6% from the field to tally a new season-high in points (83) and field goals (27), while tying their season-high of 26 free throw attempts to avenge a loss at LIU earlier this season.
The 30-point victory is Le Moyne's largest margin of victory this season.
Junior guard
Sierra Linnin (Valley Cottage, N.Y./Albertus Magnus) and graduate forward
Haedyn Roberts (Holland Patent, N.Y./Holland Patent) registered 25 and 20 points, respectively, marking the second time this season that the two players recorded 20-plus points in the same game, with both contests resulting in a Le Moyne victory.
For the second time this season, Linnin tied the Le Moyne women's basketball single game program record of seven made threes, while Roberts pulled down a game-high nine rebounds, including a season-high four offensive boards, in addition to two blocks and three steals. Linnin becomes the third player in program history to record seven threes in a single game more than once in the same season.
Senior forward
Brianna Williams (Brampton, Ontario/Southwest Academy/Hartford) provided 10 points, seven rebounds, two steals and a block, graduate guard
Megan Bodziony (Wakefield, R.I./St. Andrew's School/Fordham/Bryant) contributed 10 points, four rebounds and three assists, and senior guard
Emily Florvil (Brooklyn, N.Y./Nazareth) added nine points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Le Moyne's 36 points in the paint Saturday is the team's second-highest total this, behind the 38 points in the paint they scored during a win at home over Mercyhurst.
The Dolphins led the Sharks 43-35 at halftime, then outscored the visitors 25-8 in the third to extend their lead to 25 points heading into the fourth.
Janessa Williams, Sirviva Legions and Gisela Vazquez Segura each scored in double figures for the Sharks during the setback. Williams scored a team-high 16 points with eight rebounds in 40 minutes played. Legions contributed 10 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals, while Vazquez Segura registered 10 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field.
Le Moyne improves to 5-1 at home in Northeast Conference play with the win. The Dolphins will return to action Thursday when they host Central Connecticut State University for a 6:00 p.m. matchup at Ted Grant Court, then they will play their final road game of the regular season on March 1 at Stonehill before closing out the regular season at home against first-place FDU on March 6.
