DeWitt, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College women's tennis team recorded a 4-2 victory over the Providence College Friars in non-conference action Sunday at the Elevate Fitness courts in DeWitt.
Despite Providence claiming the first point of the match after winning two of the three doubles matches, Le Moyne won four singles matches to register the win. The Dolphins have now won four of their last five matches.
Providence's Allison Root and Flora Eidson defeated graduate student
Feriel Mahbouli (Tunis, Tunisia/Lycee 36/South Carolina State) and sophomore
Ella Fernando (Manchester, England/Stonyhurst College) by a score of 6-0 in the No. 1 doubles match, but senior
Isabella Barona (Manta, Ecuador/Talentos de Manta) and junior
Paula Casares (A Coruna, Spain/Colegio Maristas Cristo Rey) bested Erika Beltran and Leena Kuittinen, 6-3, in the second position.
Lauren Carson and Elisa Davalos clinched the first point for Providence with a 7-6 (7-5) win over juniors
Alicia Alvarez (Madrid, Spain/IES Ortega y Gasset) and
Stella Simeonova (Sofia, Bulgaria/National Gymnasium of Mathematics and Natural Sciences) by a score of 6-3 in the No. 3 doubles match.
Fernando claimed a 6-1, 6-2 win over Carson in the No. 3 singles match, while Casares registered a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Root in the fourth position.
Eidson's 6-4, 6-0 win over Le Moyne freshman
Charlotte Klein (Mellenthin, Germany/Education World Wide (Fla.)) in the first position singles match brought the Friars one point away from clinching.
Mahbouli defeated Elise Leik by a score of 6-2, 6-3 in the second position, and Barona recorded a 6-1, 6-2 win over Davalos to clinch the victory for Le Moyne.

Lilia Raiss (Temara, Morocco/Descartes) went unfinished.
Le Moyne will return to action on March 1 when they host the Wagner College Seahawks for a 7:00 p.m. Northeast Conference match at the Elevate Fitness courts in Liverpool.
