SAINT FRANCIS DOWNS SOFTBALL IN SERIES FINALE

Loretto, Pa. – The Le Moyne College softball team finished out the final set of their three-game season series against NEC rival Saint Francis on Sunday afternoon. The Red Flash completed the series sweep by taking down the Dolphins, 9-0, in five innings.

Four straight singles to lead off the bottom of the first gave Saint Francis a quick 2-0 lead as center fielder Savannah Nash and right fielder AB Cipalla came around to score. Following a flyout induced by Le Moyne's freshman starter Isabella Kwashek (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford), the Red Flash added another run as second baseman Addie Smith crossed the plate on a single through the right side in the next at-bat.

Freshman Nevaeh Ross (Friendship, N.Y./Friendship) was tabbed to appear in relief for the Dolphins and recorded two straight outs to end the inning after first baseman Olivia Ulam scored on a lineout to left off the bat of Farmer.

The Red Flash added two more runs and took a 6-0 lead in the bottom of the second as Nash homered to center field following a walk to shortstop Hannah Bendle to lead off the inning.

The final three runs of the game came across in the bottom of the fourth as Nash reached on a fielder's choice and Cipalla was hit by a pitch before Smith sent a round-tripper over the center field wall. Junior Rose Nicastro (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) was subbed in to record the final two outs of the frame for the Dolphins, registering two consecutive flyouts to left field.

Le Moyne's squad was unable to get a runner on in the top of the fifth, ending the game early due to the run rule.
