FDU KNOCKS OFF WOMEN’S LACROSSE, 13-7

Teaneck, N.J. – Adriana Mavlios registered four points to lead FDU to a 13-7 victory over the Le Moyne College women's lacrosse team in Northeast Conference action on Wednesday afternoon at University Stadium.

The Dolphins opened the game with the first three goals. Junior midfielder Sara Hunter (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) scored the first goal at the 12:49 mark off a pass from classmate Alexa Strelick (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas). Sophomore attacker Emily Noel (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) followed at the 8:24 mark by finishing off a feed from sophomore midfielder Maddi Barney (Lorraine, N.Y./South Jefferson). The duo reversed roles with 5:45 remaining.

Lindsey Felician got the Knights on the scoreboard at the 4:54 mark off a pass from Mavlios.

Freshman midfielder Carrie Bennett (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) extended Le Moyne's lead back to three with 4:34 left with her sixth goal of the year after collecting a feed from Noel.

Brielle McInaw closed out the scoring in the quarter with 3:48 remaining off a pass from Riley Eaton.

FDU scored three straight goals to open the second quarter and take the lead. Mavlios ignited the run at the 11:40 mark. She scored again with 5:37 remaining to tie the score and force a Le Moyne timeout. Jenny Spencer scored 34 seconds later to put FDU in front.

Following a save by sophomore goalkeeper Amanda Manfredi (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) with 17 seconds remaining, senior defender Katherine Amico (Fayetteville, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) cleared the ball before flipping it to Barney. She then sent a quick pass to sophomore midfielder Julia Blakeslee (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca), who then found freshman attacker Mackenzie Prentice (Clay, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) on the crease for her sixth goal of the season as time expired.

FDU tallied all five of the goals scored in the third quarter. Nora Codianni started the streak by converting a free-position shot with 12:34 remaining. Mavlios completed her hat trick with 5:19 left to put the Knights up by two for the first time. Karly Dillabough followed 46 seconds later with a free-position goal. Codianni netted her second goal of the span with 2:53 to go. Eaton capped the outburst with 13 seconds left for a 10-5 lead.

The Dolphins ended their scoring drought of 17:45, and recorded just their second goal in 36:19, at the 12:15 mark of the fourth quarter as Barney netted an unassisted tally, her ninth of the season.

The Knights answered with two goals in less than one minute to take their first six-goal lead. McInaw pushed the lead back to five with a free-position tally in an extra-player situation. Following a green card on the Dolphins, Codianni scored her third goal of the half off a pass from Felician in the extra-player situation.

Blakeslee trimmed the margin back to five with an unassisted marker for her team-high 12th goal of the season with 8:24 to play, but that ended up being Le Moyne's last goal of the game.

Dillabough closed out the scoring in the game with 1:59 to play.

Manfredi finished the game with 11 saves in the setback. Skylar Goodman posted four saves in the win for the Knights.

Le Moyne (3-7, 2-1 NEC) is back home on Saturday against LIU at 11:00 a.m.
