Lakeville, Mass. – The Le Moyne College men's tennis team recorded its ninth straight victory over Stonehill College, 6-1, on Saturday afternoon in Northeast Conference action at the Lakeville Athletic Club.
The Dolphins won the point in the doubles competition for the third straight match. Guillermo Bennaton and Nicolas Arredondo put the Skyhawks in front by picking up a 6-2 win over freshmen
Luke Hoyland (Sheffield, England/Birkdale School) and
Lorenzo Bortolaso (Bassano del Grappa, Italy/IT IS Enrico Fermi) at the second position. Graduate student
Bernardo Teixeira (Porto, Portugal/Escola Secundária Fontes Pereira de Mel/University of Porto/Delaware) and freshman
Jacob Maravillas (Bergenfield, N.J./Homeschooled) evened doubles at one apiece with a 6-4 win at the third spot over Guillaume Duhil de Bénazé and Jacob Borch-Nielsen. Senior
Peter Hatton (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt/Club Med Academics/Army West Point) and junior
Adrian Daniel (Tel Aviv, Israel/Montana State) clinched the point with their 11th straight victory, 7-6 (7-5), at the first position over Jacob Wilhelm Krefting and Mark Kröll.
Le Moyne clinched the victory over the Skyhawks by winning five of the six matches in the singles competition. Hatton won his 10th consecutive victory by registering back-to-back 6-2 wins over Bennaton at the top spot. Daniel won at the second position over Wilhelm Krefting, 6-3, 6-4. Teixeira earned his first NEC victory, 6-3, 6-2, over Arredondo at the third spot. Freshman
Navya Verma (Patiala, India) also collected his first NEC win, 6-4, 6-0, at the fifth position over Alexis Chastang. Bortolaso earned his fifth dual match win of the season, 6-2, 6-4, over Mateo Mallen at the sixth spot. Kröll earned Stonehill's point by defeating Hoyland in the tightest match of the day, 7-5, 7-6 (8-6), at the fourth position.
Le Moyne (6-8, 4-1 NEC) is back in action on Sunday at Brown University at 10:00 a.m.
