COLGATE RECORDS 5-2 WIN OVER MEN’S TENNIS

Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College men's tennis team was edged by Colgate University, 5-2, on Saturday evening at Drumlins Country Club.

Colgate took a 1-0 lead in the match by winning the point for the doubles competition. Jerome Falcon and Parker McGowan recorded a 6-1 win at the third position over freshmen Luke Hoyland (Sheffield, England/Birkdale School) and Jacob Maravillas (Bergenfield, N.J./Homeschooled). John Fazli and Aidan Chung clinched the point with a 6-2 win over freshmen Callum Matthew (Dorset, England/Highcliffe School) and Lorenzo Bortolaso (Bassano del Grappa, Italy/IT IS Enrico Fermi) at the second spot. Senior Peter Hatton (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt/Club Med Academics/Army West Point) and junior Adrian Daniel (Tel Aviv, Israel/Montana State) won their eighth straight match at the top spot for the Dolphins over Benito Vlassis and Josh Israel, 6-2.
 
The Raiders claimed four of the six points in the singles competition to secure the victory. Aidan Lee put his team up 2-0 with a 6-2, 6-2 win at the third spot over Matthew. Daniel got the Dolphins on the board by defeating Israel at the second position, 6-2, 6-4.      

Hatton evened the match at two apiece by rallying to beat Vlassis at the top spot, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. With the victory, his 14th straight between doubles and singles play, Hatton tied Tom Jarry '23 for the most combined wins in the program's history with 120.

Lochlan Seth put the Raiders back in front with a 6-3, 6-4 win at the fifth position over freshman Navya Verma (Patiala, India). Benjamin Graham clinched the point by rallying for a 3-6, 7-5, 7-5 victory over Hoyland at the fourth spot. Falcon closed out the match with a 6-4, 6-3 win at the sixth position over Bortolaso.
 
Le Moyne (4-5) returns to the courts next Saturday for matches against Butler University and Saint Joseph's University at the SJU Tennis Complex in Philadelphia.
