Lowell, Mass. – Jade Catlin had four points to lead the University of Massachusetts Lowell to a 16-6 victory over the Le Moyne College women's lacrosse team on Saturday afternoon at Cushing Field.
The River Hawks opened the game with the first six goals. Bronwyn Hilbert started the scoring at the 14:11 mark off a free-position shot for her second goal of the season. Grace Lydon followed with her 12th goal of the year at the 11:36 mark off a dish from Catlin, who then converted a free-position shot 43 seconds later for her 19th tally of the campaign. Catlin made another free-position shot 31 seconds later and tallied her third straight goal another 37 seconds later off a pass from Audra Hansen. Chloe Bowers capped the run with 9:18 left with her 21st goal of the year after taking a pass from Macy Shultz.
Junior midfielder
Sara Hunter (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) got the Dolphins on the scoreboard with her fourth goal of the season with 5:47 left.
UMass Lowell scored twice in 40 seconds to complete the quarter's scoring. Lydon made it 7-1 with 5:06 left off a pass from Shultz, who followed with her 11th goal of the year with 4:26 left off a feed from Marlee Green.
The River Hawks scored the only four goals of the second quarter. Shultz scored the first of the goals in an extra-player situation at the 14:01 mark. Green got her team into double figures with 11:46 left off a free-position shot. Bowers made it a double-digit lead with 10:08 to go off a pass from Georgia Ruscitti. Bowers closed out the scoring in the half with 5:56 left off a free-position shot.
Sydney Correll started the scoring in the third quarter at the 12:30 mark with her second goal of the season during an extra-player situation.
Sophomore attacker
Emily Noel (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) snapped the run for the Dolphins with her second goal of the season at the 10:12 mark off a dish from junior attacker
Bella Sampo (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill).
The River Hawks scored the final three goals of the quarter to complete their scoring in the game. Kaitlyn McKinnon started the spurt with her first goal of the season at the 9:04 mark off a feed from Hilbert. Ellie Chung tallied her first goal of the year with 5:57 to go. McKinnon converted a free-position shot in an extra-player situation with 3:31 remaining.
Le Moyne scored all four of the fourth quarter's goals. Freshman attacker
Mackenzie Prentice (Clay, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) registered her first career goal at the 9:33 mark after taking a pass from Noel. Junior attacker
Alexa Strelick (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) netted her second goal of the year at the 4:55 mark on a free-position shot. Senior attacker
Grace Detor (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) made a free-position shot of her own with 3:06 left for her third goal of the campaign. Prentice scored the final goal of the game with four seconds left.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Amanda Manfredi (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) registered nine saves in the setback, including four in the second quarter. Alexa Kuhn made three saves (against one goal) in the first half to earn the win.
Le Moyne (1-5) returns home to host Siena College on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m.
