Brookville, N.Y. – Owen Stefanko recorded five points to lead LIU to a 13-6 win over the Le Moyne College men's lacrosse team in Northeast Conference action on Saturday afternoon at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.

The teams alternated goals in the opening quarter. Aiden Zuhoski tallied the first goal just 48 seconds into the game off a pass from Stefanko. Freshman midfielder Emmet McDermott (Pleasantville, N.Y./Pleasantville) evened the score at one 68 seconds later off a feed from senior midfielder Isaac Frechette (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius). The Sharks regained the lead with 6:52 left as Ryan Baudo found the back of the net. Le Moyne tied the score again at the 4:39 mark as graduate student attackman Zachary Delaney (Syracuse, N.Y./Onondaga/Hobart) finished off a feed from McDermott. Redshirt sophomore attackman Thomas Berry (Tully, N.Y./Tully) gave the Dolphins their only lead 90 seconds later off a dish from freshman attackman Jake Lania (Walpole, Mass./Walpole), who made his collegiate debut in the game. Stefanko tied the score with 51 seconds left. Just 40 seconds later, Cameron Connolly put the Sharks up for good from the edge of the crease off a feed from Charlie Hunnewell.

The Dolphins took advantage of an LIU penalty to tie the score for the final time at the 9:21 mark as senior attackman Brian Nephew (Irving, N.Y./St. Joseph Collegiate) scored an extra-man goal for the second straight game.

LIU took control of the game with the final four goals of the half. Ben Schuster started the run with 5:27 remaining. Ben McIsaac doubled the lead 47 seconds later off a pass from Stefanko. Connolly scored almost two minutes later after taking a dish from McIsaac. Mark Regan capped the scoring with 12 seconds left off a feed from Stefanko.

McIsaac extended the run to five at the 13:15 mark of the third quarter.

Graduate student midfielder Ethan Loun (West Linn, Ore./West Linn) snapped the streak at the 8:34 mark off a pass from McDermott.

The Sharks pushed their lead to six with the final two goals of the quarter. McIsaac tallied his second goal of the period at the 5:33 mark off a dish from Connolly, who later scored with 1:15 remaining.

LIU tallied the first two goals of the fourth quarter to take its largest lead of the game. Zuhoski scored the first goal with 7:54 remaining after collecting a feed from Stefanko. Zuhoski ended his team's scoring with 3:18 to play off a pass from Hunnewell.

Loun wrapped up the game's scoring with 1:15 to play.

Sophomore goalkeeper Lucas Winger (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) suffered the loss between the pipes after making 10 saves. Tyler Gersh made nine saves in the victory for the Sharks.

Le Moyne (8-5, 5-1 NEC) closes out the regular season next Saturday at home against Robert Morris at 2:00 p.m. The winner of the game will be the #1 seed and host the following week's NEC Championship. If Robert Morris wins and LIU defeats VMI, LIU claims the second seed and the Dolphins would be the third seed.
