Bridgewater, N.J. – Three members of the Le Moyne College women's lacrosse team have earned Northeast Conference All-Conference honors, as voted upon by the league's 10 head coaches and announced by the conference office on Thursday afternoon.
Junior attacker
Bella Sampo (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill), sophomore midfielder
Maddi Barney (Lorraine, N.Y./South Jefferson) and senior defender
Grace Brinza (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy) were each named to the all-conference second team.
Sampo earns all-conference honors for the first time in her career. She led the Dolphins in scoring with a career-high 32 points on 14 goals and a team-best 18 assists as a starter in 16 of 17 games, while adding a career-best 14 ground balls. She recorded multiple points in six games, including three games with at least four points. She found the back of the net multiple times in three contests, including a career-high four goals against Howard (April 12), and dished out multiple assists in five games, including a career-best four at Stonehill (March 16).
Barney collects recognition from the NEC for the second straight season after being named to the all-rookie team last year. She registered 28 points on a team-high 22 goals and six assists as a starter in nine of 14 games played, while posting 22 draw controls for the second straight year and 14 ground balls. She tallied multiple points in nine games, including a career-high four against Howard. She had eight games with multiple goals, including a trio with a career best-tying three. She recorded multiple draw controls in six contests, including a pair of games with a career-high four.
Brinza was named to an all-conference team for the first time after being tabbed to the NE10 all-rookie team in 2022. A starter in each of the team's last 16 games, she tied for the team lead in caused turnovers with a career-high 19, while adding 21 ground balls, the third-most on the team. She caused multiple turnovers in six games, including a career-best four at Delaware State (March 15). She also scooped up multiple ground balls in six games, including three in a pair of contests.
The Dolphins finished the season with a 4-13 record, including a 3-6 mark in NEC action.
