Liverpool, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College women's tennis team suffered a 4-1 defeat against the LIU Sharks in Northeast Conference action Saturday evening at the Elevate Fitness courts in Liverpool.
LIU took the first point of the day after winning two of the three doubles matches. Lucia Garrigues and Mia Tsoukalas bested
Feriel Mahbouli (Tunis, Tunisia/Lycee 36/South Carolina State) and
Ella Fernando (Manchester, England/Stonyhurst College) in No. 1 doubles by a score of 6-4, Jenna Svatos and Clara Tardivel defeated
Paula Casares (A Coruna, Spain/Colegio Maristas Cristo Rey) and
Isabella Barona (Manta, Ecuador/Talentos de Manta) 6-4 in the second position.
Le Moyne's
Alicia Alvarez (Madrid, Spain/IES Ortega y Gasset) and
Stella Simeonova (Sofia, Bulgaria/National Gymnasium of Mathematics and Natural Sciences) recorded a 6-1 win over Ksenia Reznitskaya and Fernanda Mueller in the second position.
Mahbouli registered Le Moyne's only singles point with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Reznitskaya in the first position.
Garrigues recorded a 6-1, 6-3 win over Fernando in No. 2 singles, Tsoukalas claimed a 6-3, 6-1 win over Casares at the third position and Paula Guillen Cerver took a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Alvarez in No. 5 singles.
Le Moyne will return to action on April 12 when they host Lafayette Colege for a non-conference match at Elevate Fitness in Liverpool.
