BASEBALL FALLS AT MERCYHURST, 2-0

Erie, Pa. – The Le Moyne College baseball team dropped game two its conference series at Mercyhurst University by a score of 2-0 on Saturday at the Mercyhurst Baseball Field.
Mercyhurst senior right-hander pitcher Jacob Bazala improved his record to 7-3 on the year after limiting the Dolphins to seven hits, five walks and zero runs with eight strikeouts through the first 7.0 innings.

Senior right-hander Ben Berdine collected his first save of the season after allowing one hit, one walk and zero runs in the final 2.0 innings as the Lakers secured the shutout and the series victory.

The Lakers scored both of their runs in the bottom of the first inning.

A groundball to the left side from Mercyhurst catcher Landon DiBeradin drove in left fielder Joe Trivisonno, then right fielder Eric Chorba scored on a wild pitch later in the inning.
Center fielder Chris Juchno finished the contest with a team-high two hits for the Lakers.

Le Moyne senior infielder Benji Ries (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Adlai E. Stevenson) went 3-for-4 at the plate during the setback to improve his conference batting average to .368, while senior outfielder Chaz Anthony (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) provided two hits, and junior infielder Adam Sullivan (Syracuse, N.Y./Marcellus) added one hit, two walks and a stolen base.

Le Moyne redshirt-sophomore right-hander AJ Petraitis (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) surrendered just two hits, one earned run, one unearned run, and two walks with five strikeouts in 7.0 innings of work. Senior left-hander Jacob Crystal (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) delivered a scoreless frame in the bottom of the eighth.

Le Moyne put a runner in scoring position during six of the nine innings, but the Lakers turned five double plays during the outing to negate many of Le Moyne's opportunities.

Mercyhust's win on Saturday secured the series victory as the Lakers claimed a 4-3 win in game one on Friday.
