SOFTBALL TO HOST STONEHILL IN FINAL NEC SERIES OF THE SEASON THIS WEEKEND

Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College softball team will host NEC rival Stonehill College in their final three-game conference series of the 2025 season at home this weekend. The series, which was originally scheduled for the weekend of Mar. 29, will begin with a 1:00 p.m./3:00 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday, May 3 before concluding with game three on Sunday, Apr. 27 with an 11:00 a.m. start time. 

Series History:
Le Moyne currently holds a 30-10-1 record in a lengthy conference history against Stonehill. The squads met twice per year (with the exception of the 2004 season) between 1997 and 2012 as members of the NE10 before moving to a bi-yearly doubleheader for the next six years. The programs' final meeting in the NE10 came in March 2022.

Most recently, the Dolphins won their 2024 season series, 2-1, at home against the Skyhawks, falling, 4-2, in game one before taking games two and three, 9-8 and 5-1.

Dolphins' Season:
Le Moyne is currently 16-28 overall after going 7-13 in four weekend tournaments to kick off the year from Feb. 7 to Mar. 9. The squad is also 7-11 in conference play since NEC action began on Saturday, Mar. 15, placing them sixth in the conference standings.

The Dolphins went 1-2 in their first three-game conference set of the season on the road against Central Connecticut State on Saturday and Sunday, Mar. 15-16  before being swept in three games against Saint Francis the following weekend, Friday-Sunday, Mar. 21-23. The squad then dropped their home-opener to cross-town rival Syracuse before shutting out Niagara, 9-0, in five innings in a home non-conference game on Thursday, Apr. 3. 

Since Apr. 5, the squad earned one win apiece in their series against Wagner and LIU before claiming their first NEC series win of the season against FDU on Friday-Saturday, Apr. 18-19. Last week, Le Moyne went 2-3, falling in both legs of a road doubleheader against Colgate before claiming another NEC series victory at home against the Mercyhurst Lakers.

Most recently, the squad split a non-conference doubleheader on the road against Siena on Wednesday, Apr. 30, earning a nine-inning, 7-6 victory in game two.

Freshman third baseman Cianna Benamati (Ballston Lake, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) leads the Dolphins in number of major offensive categories, including average (.342), on-base rate (.432), slugging percentage (.623), OPS (1.055), home runs (eight), total bases (71), and RBI (27) while starting in all but two games in her freshman campaign. She has added six doubles, 18 walks, 23 runs scored, and a pair of stolen bases, as well.

Senior right fielder Alyssa Dybacz (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) has batted .308 in all 44 team games this season, working to an .800 OPS with a team-high 12 doubles and two triples, one home run, 63 total bases, nine walks, 21 RBI, and 20 runs scored. 

Junior first baseman Audrey Benderski (Spring Lake Park, Minn./Spring Lake Park) trails just behind Benamati with an .863 OPS while slashing .263/.346/.517 and appearing in all but one of Le Moyne's matchups this season. She is tied with Benamati in homeruns (eight) and has worked to 31 hits, six doubles, 14 walks, 26 RBI, and 15 runs scored on the year.

In the circle, Nevaeh Ross (Friendship, N.Y./Friendship) has thrown to a team-best 5.17 ERA while also leading the squad with 10 wins, a 1.75 WHIP, eight complete games, two shutouts, one save, and 78 strikeouts through 127.1 innings pitched over 20 starts and another 13 relief appearances.

Fellow freshman Isabella Kwashek (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) has worked to a 5.85 ERA and 1.96 WHIP this season with three complete games and 42 strikeouts through 91.0 innings pitched. In the squad's game two victory over the Saints on Wednesday, Kwashek allowed six runs (five earned) on seven hits and two walks while striking out five and earning the victory. She started the game and threw 4.2 innings before re-entering and recording the final three innings for the Dolphins.

A Look at the Skyhawks:
Stonehill has earned a 16-34 record overall while going 5-13 through conference action this season. The squad kicked off the year going 5-5 through a pair of preseason weekend tournaments from Friday, Feb. 7-Sunday, Mar. 9 before falling in two straight one-off matchups with Miami University (OH) and Dayton and splitting a doubleheader at Ohio on Thursday, Mar. 13. 

Since NEC play began, the team has gone 5-13 in non-conference games, with their most recent matchup coming in a doubleheader sweep over Rhode Island on Thursday, May 1. 

In the team's latest NEC series, the Skyhawks fell two games to one at home against FDU, earning 10-9 and 1-0 victories in the final two sets.

Sophomore outfielder Piper Hofmann leads all qualified hitters with an .854 OPS, slashing .314/.361/.493 through 48 appearances this season. She has tallied 44 hits with seven doubles, three triples, and four homeruns while adding eight walks, 21 RBI, and 27 runs scored for Stonehill. 

Freshman middle infielder Grace Conaway has also been a force in the Skyhawks' lineup, leading the team in average (.350) with 36 hits, four doubles, five walks, 10 RBI, and 18 runs scored through 33 starts this season.

In the circle, sophomore Harper Sullivan (8-4) has led the rotation in ERA (3.49), WHIP (1.69), complete games (four) and innings pitched (88.1) with 27 strikeouts and 31 walks through eight starts and 14 relief appearances in 2025.
