Syracuse, N.Y. – Redshirt sophomore guard
Deng Garang (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Grimes) scored 18 points to lead the Le Moyne College men's basketball team to a 73-47 victory over the University of New Haven in NEC action on Thursday night at Ted Grant Court.
Garang recorded 10 of his game-high point total in the first half. Junior guard
Tennessee Rainwater (Davenport, Wash./Davenport/Utah Tech) tied his season high with 14 points, including eight in the first half, while grabbing seven rebounds and dishing out three assists. Graduate student forward
Shilo Jackson (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central/Vincennes/Texas A&M-Corpus Christi) finished with 11 points, seven rebounds and four assists. The 47 points allowed are the fewest allowed by the Dolphins to a Division I opponent in Le Moyne's three seasons at the Division I level, while the 26-point margin of victory is the most since an 88-57 win at Stonehill on February 8, 2024.
Syracuse-native Andre Pasha was the only Charger to reach double figures in scoring with 10 points.
After the teams went back and forth over the opening four and one-half minutes, resulting in an 8-7 New Haven lead, the Dolphins rattled off 19 straight points and 25 of the next 27 over almost 12 minutes to take their largest lead of the half, 32-10, with 3:33 left. Jakai Sanders (Brooklyn, N.Y./Eagle Academy/Saint Peter's) each had four, Garang had a three-pointer and three others each had two.
The Chargers closed out the half with a trio of three-pointers over the final 2:12 around five points from the Dolphins to pull within 39-21 at halftime.
New Haven scored four of the first five points of the second half to extend its run to 13-6 to cut its deficit to 15 with 18:43 remaining.
After calling a timeout, the Dolphins scored seven straight points to regain their 22-point advantage. Jackson hit a jumper and two free throws and then Garang buried a three-pointer with 15:37 remaining.
The teams went back and forth over the next seven minutes as Le Moyne's lead bounced between 19 and 22 points.
After New Haven cut its deficit to 20 for the final time, Rainwater recorded a conventional three-point play and then made two free throws to put the Dolphins up by 25 for the first time with 8:09 left.
Sophomore guard
Jakob Blakley (Elgin, Ill./Walter Payton Preparatory) scored three points over two possessions to give the Dolphins their first 26-point lead with 4:57 to play.

Trevor Roe (Syracuse, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius/Radford) buried a pair of three-pointers around two New Haven free throws to deliver the final score.
Le Moyne (7-9, 2-1 NEC), which played at home for the first time in 47 days (the fifth-longest stretch in Division I this season), remains home to take on two-time defending NEC regular season champion Central Connecticut State University on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
