Easton, Mass. – The Le Moyne women's soccer team was edged 1-0 by the Stonehill Skyhawks on Thursday afternoon. Goalkeeper Mikayla McPheron tied her third-best save total of the season, stopping six shots.

The only goal of the game was scored at 6:15 in the opening half by Stonehill's Kayla Cassidy. Junior goalie Mikayla McPheron (Rome, N.Y./Rome Free Academy) made one save in the 19th minute to hold the scoreline at 1-0. Freshman Dolphins midfielder Callie Gillen (Archbald, Pa./Valley View) forced the Skyhawks' goalkeeper into action at 33:23, recording Le Moyne's first shot in the half.
McPheron started the second half strong with three stops in about 11 minutes. Le Moyne had more of an offensive presence with four attempts between 51:24 and 69:45. McPheron made two saves in less than two minutes towards the end to keep Le Moyne in the game. The Skyhawks still came out on top with the 1-0 victory.

McPheron tied her season third-best total saves with six. Freshman forward Emma Sousa (East Longmeadow, Mass./East Longmeadow) recorded two shots. Junior forwards Alvia Day (Rochester, N.Y./Rush-Henrietta) and Nicole Calle (Providence, R.I./Cumberland) each finished with one shot. Gillen recorded the only shot on goal for the Dolphins.

The Dolphins return to Ted Grant Field this Sunday, Oct. 4, to face NEC foe Mercyhurst. Kickoff is at 1 p.m.
