Le Moyne College announces an historic $1 million commitment from Vincent G. Lobdell Sr., his son Vincent "Vinny" G. Lobdell Jr., and daughter-in-law and alumna Susan "Suzie" Hillenbrand Lobdell '15 to support the Le Moyne Athletic program. The investment will enhance the student-athlete experience, expand operational resources, and strengthen the continued growth of Le Moyne's Division I athletic program.
The gift reflects the Lobdell family's deep ties to Central New York and a multigenerational commitment to entrepreneurship, education, and giving back to the community.
"As a proud Le Moyne graduate, it is an honor for our family to give back to the College that means so much," said Suzie Lobdell '15. "Dolphin student-athletes exemplify leadership, teamwork, and resilience. We are thrilled to pioneer this new DI era and the young men and women representing Le Moyne on the national stage."
"We are deeply grateful to the Lobdell family for their extraordinary generosity, vision, and longstanding commitment to Central New York," said Le Moyne President Linda M. LeMura. "Their family's history of entrepreneurship, innovation, and philanthropy reflects the values we strive to instill in our students. This gift will strengthen Le Moyne athletics and create meaningful opportunities for our student-athletes."
"My father and I spent years building a company together right here in Central New York, and we've always believed that success comes with a responsibility to give back," said Vinny Lobdell. "Having the opportunity to make this investment alongside my father and Suzie is incredibly meaningful. We're proud of our roots, proud of this community, and excited about the future of Le Moyne Athletics. This is about more than sports. It's about helping young people build confidence, character, and opportunity."
"This is a historic day for our entire athletic department," said
Phil Brown, assistant vice president of intercollegiate athletics and campus recreation. "The Lobdell family's investment reaches every corner of Dolphin Athletics, giving our student-athletes the direct support they need to succeed academically, athletically, and personally."
"Strategic investments of this scale are transformative for the long-term momentum of Le Moyne College," said Jim Joseph '83, Ed.D. '23, vice president of advancement and innovation. "The Lobdell family has created a visionary model of philanthropic partnership. This commitment ensures that our athletic programs remain competitive, sustainable, and poised for growth well into the future."
The community is invited to celebrate the gift with the Lobdell family at the 3rd Annual Le Moyne Basketball Tip-Off Dinner on Friday, October 30, at Cavalry Club in Manlius, New York.
