Bridgewater, N.J. – Le Moyne College freshman
Carlo Zucchini (Varese, Italy/European School of Varese) was named the NEC Co-Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Thursday afternoon.
Zucchini earns his first Player of the Week recognition and his third Rookie honors. He collects the accolades after going 2-0 in singles play and 2-0 in doubles action last week. He started the week by teaming with sophomore
Navya Verma for a 6-3 win at first doubles against Siena on Saturday. He then was a 6-3, 6-3 winner at the first singles spot against the Saints. He and Verma then teamed for a 6-0 win at first doubles against Mercyhurst on Tuesday. He followed by rallying for a 2-6, 7-6, 6-4 victory at first singles against the Lakers.
He is 4-1 in singles action since dual-match competition started in January, including 2-1 against NEC foes. He and Verma are 3-2 in dual matches and have won three straight.
Le Moyne (1-4, 1-2 NEC) returns to the courts on Friday, March 6 against Colgate University at Drumlins Country Club at 2:00 p.m.
