HOBART RALLIES FOR 12-7 WIN OVER MEN’S LACROSSE

Geneva, N.Y. – David Peterkin recorded four fourth-quarter points to lead Hobart College to a 12-7 come-from-behind win over the Le Moyne College men's lacrosse team on Tuesday night at Boswell Field at Urick Stadium.

The Dolphins opened the game with the first three goals over the initial six minutes. Senior midfielder Nathan Hoban (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) started the scoring at the 10:30 mark with his sixth goal of the season. Just 30 seconds later, junior goalkeeper Lucas Winger (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) tallied his first career goal on a shot from 55 yards into an empty net during a clear attempt. Senior attackman Alec Constable (Penfield, N.Y./Penfield) netted his fourth goal of the campaign only 50 seconds later with 9:10 remaining.

Following a turnover by the Dolphins, Jack Schleicher recorded his first goal of the season in transition with 8:29 to go.

Le Moyne regained its three-goal lead with 6:39 left in the quarter as sophomore midfielder Conner Vaughn (Chittenango, N.Y./Vandermont (Texas)/Limestone) tallied his ninth goal of the year.

Rufus Robertson closed out the scoring in the quarter with his second goal of the season with 3:10 left to get the Statesmen within 4-2.

The Dolphins scored the only two goals of the second quarter to take a 6-2 lead. Following eight minutes of scoreless play to start the period, Vaughn tallied his 10th goal of the season with 6:44 remaining. Constable then capped the scoring in the half with 22 seconds left off a feed from Vaughn.

Hobart scored the first three goals of the third quarter to get within one. Peterkin started the run with his eighth goal of the season at the 12:54 mark off a pass from Colman Craft. Following a penalty on the Dolphins, Alex Begina scored in the extra-man opportunity after receiving a feed at the 11:19 mark from Daniel Cano, who then followed 50 seconds later with his ninth tally of the season after taking a pass from Bryce Johnson.

Le Moyne extended its lead back to two with 2:56 left in the quarter as senior attackman Thomas Berry (Tully, N.Y./Tully) recorded his 10th goal of the year.

Johnny Harding finished off the scoring in the third quarter with his third goal of the year with 1:32 remaining.

Hobart scored all six of the fourth quarter's goals to secure the victory. Cano tied the score with 12:09 remaining. Just 35 seconds later, Connor DiTomasso registered the game-winning goal after taking a pass from Peterkin. Another 44 seconds later, Peterkin fed Gordon Bennett for his seventh tally of the campaign to force a Le Moyne timeout. Peterkin got the Statesmen into double digits with 7:38 to play. Bennett found the back of the net again with 6:28 to go. Peterkin finished off the scoring in the contest with his 10th goal of the season with 2:09 remaining.

Winger finished the game with 20 saves, including six in each of the first and fourth quarters and four in each of the second and third quarters. He is the first goalkeeper this season to record at least 20 saves in multiple games. Michael Johnson made eight saves in the victory for the Statesmen.
