DeWitt, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College men's tennis team registered a 7-0 victory over Oswego State on Saturday night at Elevate Fitness.
The Dolphins dropped just one game en route to sweeping the doubles competition. Freshman
Carlo Zucchini (Varese, Italy/European School of Varese) and sophomore
Navya Verma (Patiala, India/Apollo Public School) blanked Anthony Marcano and Cole Lyons at the top spot, 6-0. Sophomore
Luke Hoyland (Sheffield, England/Birkdale School) and freshman
Gabriel Segubiense (Sugar Land, Texas/Clements) tallied a 6-1 victory at the second position over Colin Byer and Tyler Yhun. Sophomores
Callum Matthew (Dorset, England/Highcliffe School) and
Lorenzo Bortolaso (Bassano del Grappa, Italy/IT IS Enrico Fermi) swept Miguel Garcia Moreta and Connor Tutor at the third spot, 6-0.
Le Moyne won all but four games in the singles competition. Zucchini picked up the team's second point with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at the top spot over Marcano. Matthew followed with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Lyons at the second position. With scores of 6-0, 6-0, Hoyland defeated Byer and Bortolaso downed Yhun at the third and fourth positions, respectively. Segubiense earned his first dual match win with a 6-0, 6-1 decision over Garcia Moreta at the fifth spot. Junior
Yegor Boyev (London, England/Ashcroft Technology Academy) swept Cole Fleming at the sixth position, 6-0, 6-0.
Le Moyne (2-6) is back on the courts on Friday against LIU at the LIU Tennis Center in Brookville, N.Y.
