Syracuse, N.Y. – Colgate University registered a 4-0 win over the Le Moyne College men's tennis team on Friday afternoon at Drumlins Country Club.
The Raiders claimed the point in the doubles competition by winning two of the three matches. Tim Vargas and Parker McGowan posted a 6-4 win at the second spot over sophomore
Luke Hoyland (Sheffield, England/Birkdale School) and freshman
Gabriel Segubiense (Sugar Land, Texas/Clements). Sophomores
Callum Matthew (Dorset, England/Highcliffe School) and
Lorenzo Bortolaso (Bassano del Grappa, Italy/IT IS Enrico Fermi) made it 1-1 with a 7-5 victory over Adam Fink and John Fazli at the third position. Aidan Chung and Tim Viding clinched the point by edging freshman
Carlo Zucchini (Varese, Italy/European School of Varese) and sophomore
Navya Verma (Patiala, India/Apollo Public School) at the top spot, 7-6 (7-5).
Colgate won all three matches to finish to secure the victory. Wesley Nichols earned Colgate's second point with a 6-3, 6-1 win at the sixth spot over junior
Yegor Boyev (London, England/Ashcroft Technology Academy). Aidan Lee followed with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Matthew at the sixth position. Chung clinched the match by registering a 6-3, 6-4 win at the fourth spot over Bortolaso.
Lochlan Seth had a 6-4, 5-4 lead at the top spot over Zucchini when the match was clinched. Witt Bulger and Hoyland were tied at one set apiece at the third position, 6-4, 1-6, 2-0, and Jerome Falcon and Segubiense were tied at one set each at the fifth spot, 6-1, 3-6, 3-2, when the match was determined.
Le Moyne (1-5) is back in action on Sunday at Dartmouth at 4:00 p.m.
