WOMEN’S LACROSSE DOWNS SIENA, 10-7

Syracuse, N.Y. – Junior goalkeeper Amanda Manfredi (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) recorded a season-high 11 saves to lead the Le Moyne College women's lacrosse team to a 10-7 victory over Siena University on Saturday afternoon at Ted Grant Court.

Le Moyne, which fell to the Saints each of the last two years, opened the game with three goals over the first six minutes. Junior midfielder Julia Blakeslee (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca) started the scoring just 59 seconds into the game off a pass from senior attacker Alexa Strelick (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas). Following Manfredi's first save of the game, graduate student attacker Francesca Tortora (Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse/Stony Brook) netted her 10th goal of the season at the 11:35 mark after taking a pass in transition from junior midfielder Maddi Barney (Lorraine, N.Y./South Jefferson). Sophomore midfielder Emily Markovina (Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale) forced a Siena timeout with her fourth goal of the season with 9:01 left off a feed from senior attacker Bella Sampo (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill).

Elizabeth Wamp got the Saints on the scoreboard with 1:46 remaining by converting a free-position shot for her 14th goal of the campaign.

Barney extended Le Moyne's lead back to three with the first goal of the second quarter with 11:23 left off a feed from Tortora.

Siena scored twice in 68 seconds to get within one with 7:34 remaining. Cassidy Morrow scored her seventh goal of the season with 8:42 left off a feed from Jenna Pollicino. Avery Connolly followed at the 7:34 mark by converting a free-position shot.

Le Moyne scored the final two goals of the half to take a 6-3 lead into halftime. Blakeslee found the back of the net off a free-position shot with 3:20 to go for her seventh tally of the campaign. Redshirt junior attacker Olivia Lockwood (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee/Onondaga C.C.) finished off the half's scoring with her 20th goal of the season after taking a pass in front of the net in an extra-player situation from Tortora with 32 seconds left.

The teams traded goals in the third quarter. Strelick put the Dolphins up by four for the first time with her sixth goal of the season with 13:02 left. Koehler Nieman answered at the 9:58 mark off a dish from Lauren O'Hagan. Lockwood tallied her second goal of the afternoon in transition with 7:57 remaining to force a Siena timeout. O'Hagan netted the final goal of the quarter with 2:58 left off a pass from Connolly.

The see-saw continued in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter. Lockwood registered another extra-player goal just 51 seconds into the stanza. O'Hagan countered with 13:00 to go following another feed from Connolly.

Cassidy Bonura got the Saints within two for the final time with 6:19 to play after receiving a pass from Kaitlin Bogucki.

Lockwood finished off the game's scoring with six seconds left with another extra-player tally.

Manfredi made a four saves in the first quarter, three in the second and two each in the third and fourth to earn her career-best fifth win of the season. McAlister Salter took the loss for the Saints after making six saves.

Le Moyne (5-1) wraps up its non-conference schedule on Wednesday at Canisius University at 3:00 p.m.
