WOMEN’S TENNIS FALLS TO SAINT FRANCIS, 4-0, IN NEC SEMIFINALS

West Windsor, N.J. – Second-seeded Saint Francis University registered a 4-0 win over the Le Moyne College women's tennis team in the NEC Championship semifinals on Friday morning at the Mercer County Tennis Center.

The Red Flash jumped out to a 1-0 lead by claiming the point in the doubles competition. Kelly Dowuona and Emma Marais were 6-2 winners at the second spot over seniors Stella Simeonova (Sofia, Bulgaria/National Gymnasium of Mathematics and Natural Sciences) and Alicia Alvarez (Madrid, Spain/IES Ortega y Gasset). Gabriela Almanza and Reagen Mangan clinched the point with a 6-3 victory over senior Emma Sanchez Jimenez (Marbella, Spain/Victoria Kent Marbella/Eastern Florida State College/Carson-Newman) and junior Lilia Raiss (Temara, Morocco/Descartes) at the third position. Junior Ella Fernando (Manchester, England/Stonyhurst College) and senior Paula Casares (A Coruna, Spain/Colegio Maristas Cristo Rey) had a 5-4 lead over Dasha Chichkina and Helena Lynn at the top spot when the point was clinched.

Saint Francis advanced to the championship match by winning the first three positions to finish in the singles competition. Mangan made it 2-0 with a 6-0, 6-2 victory at the fifth position over Alvarez. Dowuona followed with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Simeonova at the second spot. Lynn clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Casares at the fourth position. Chichkina and Almanza were leading at the first and third spots, while Raiss was in front at the sixth position when the match ended.
 
The Dolphins finish the year 4-12, including 2-5 in NEC action, after advancing to the NEC semifinals for the first time.
