Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College men's soccer team opened up its 2026 campaign with a 1-0 win over Canisius on Thursday.

Le Moyne's controlled most of the possession throughout the half, as redshirt junior defender
Michael Krzeminski (Fort Myers, Fla./Fort Myers) took two shots, one in the 19
th minute that went wide and another in the 27
th minute that was saved by Canisius's Preston Harold. The Golden Griffs looked to hit the 'Phins on the counter attack, playing several passes over the top of the defense, however, called offside as the half closed with the score 0-0.
Le Moyne scored the only goal of the game scored by junior forward
Rhys Allport (Wirral, England/Reasehealth) in the 53
rd minute, off of a stunning curling effort into the top right corner. Allport's goal was set up by assists from graduate student forward
Oli Karbownik (Zabrze, Poland/Delbarton School (N.J.)/Seton Hall/Rider) and junior forward
Noah Morelli (North Tonawanda, N.Y./Niagara-Wheatfield), giving the Dolphins the 1-0 lead.
Canisius looked to respond, but the back line of the 'Phins were able to keep a clean sheet as Le Moyne claimed its first win of the season. "The first game is always extremely difficult, so I'm really pleased the lads found a way to win," said Donnelly. "There are many things we can improve with in our performance, but it was nice to see us get a clean sheet."
'Phins Highlights:
Rhys Allport scored the game-winning goal, finishing with two shots on goal. Karbownik contributed to the offensive effort with an assist. Morelli also provided an assist while taking one shot. Dupell recorded a shutout with one save over the course of 90 minutes.

In their next matchup, Le Moyne will host SUNY Polytechnic Institute on Sunday, Aug. 23, at 4 p.m. ET. The game will take place at Ted Grant Field.
