Here at Le Moyne our campus and community take great pride in our 21 NCAA Division II intercollegiate athletics programs, as well as the 17 different club sport teams we sponsor. We offer a comprehensive array of intramural activities, weekend tournaments, work study positions, and of course there is always room to cheer on the Dolphins at all of our home games. Frequently asked questions about Le Moyne Athletics and Campus Recreation
I am thinking about trying out for a team. What should I do?
Le Moyne's intercollegiate athletic teams compete in the highly competitive NCAA Division II, and Northeast 10 Conference. Our coaches actively recruit for scholarship athletes and many times their rosters are full prior to the start of an academic year. However, incoming students who have interest in trying out for intercollegiate athletics should contact the coach directly to see if an open roster position may provide a try out opportunity. Each program is unique so please don't hesitate to ask.
How can I find out if I am good enough to make an NCAA Division II roster at Le Moyne?
As an NCAA Division II institution, Le Moyne offers athletic scholarships and therefore recruiting is an important component of a coach's ability to field a successful team. If you are unsure of your ability level as it relates to NCAA Division II, you should seek advice from your high school or travel team coach, or consider forwarding a video - or in some sports competitive times and/or scores - to members of our coaching staff to get an honest assessment of your potential.
I want to participate in athletics, but I am not sure about the time commitment required of varsity intercollegiate athletics. Are there other options?
Yes. Le Moyne offers 17 different club sport teams that compete against local and regional colleges and universities. Club sports provide competition without the same intense training and time commitment of varsity athletics. There are also opportunities to participate against other Le Moyne students by signing up for intramural competitions and activities.
