Syracuse, N.Y. – Le Moyne College has announced the addition of women's bowling as a varsity sport, bringing the Dolphins' number of varsity offerings up to 22, as well as a new spirit club program.
"We're excited to offer women's bowling as a varsity sport and a new spirit club program, which will both strengthen opportunities for future student-athletes," said
Phil Brown, Assistant Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics and Campus Recreation. "Women's bowling provides another meaningful avenue for female student-athletes to compete and excel, reflecting our ongoing commitment to women's sports. Together with the new spirit program, these additions will energize our campus community and deepen the sense of pride and connection that define the Le Moyne experience."

Both programs will start during the 2026-27 academic year. Women's bowling will create varsity participation opportunities for approximately 11 new student-athletes and is the first new program at the College since the addition of men's and women's indoor and outdoor track and field in the 2014-15 academic year.
With the addition of the women's bowling program, the College will now increase the varsity participation opportunities for over 400 students. There are presently 40 active NCAA Division I institutions that sponsor women's bowling and 98 programs across the NCAA's three divisions.
The NEC is one of 11 conferences to have an automatic berth in the NCAA championship, which encompasses all three divisions. The NEC featured seven programs during the 2024-25 season, including core members FDU, LIU, Mercyhurst and Wagner and associate members Duquesne, Monmouth and Niagara.
The spirit program will consist of a dance team, a cheerleading team as well as a mascot.
Le Moyne will immediately begin the process to hire a head coach for each of the programs.
