Mike Smiley

Mike Smiley joined the Le Moyne coaching staff during the summer of 2011. Smiley, who played in two NCAA tournaments during his collegiate career at the College of the Holy Cross, spent the previous two seasons as an assistant to Head Men's Basketball Coach Bob Montana at Union College. Prior to his time with the Dutchmen, Smiley was the Babson College program's lone full-time assistant from 2005-08.

At Babson, Smiley helped lead a turnaround of the Beaver program. He was a member of the staff that took a team that finished last in the NEWMAC in 2005-06 and guided it to a second-place finish and top-10 ranking in New England the following year. Smiley was promoted to Associate Head Coach prior to the 2007-08 season.

During his collegiate career at Holy Cross, Smiley was a four-year varsity letter winner. He was a member of teams that combined to post 84 wins during his career. As a freshman, the 2001-02 Crusaders advanced to the NCAA tournament and played Kansas, and the following year, Holy Cross returned to the tournament and matched up against Marquette. In his final season, 2004-05, Holy Cross advanced to the second round of the NIT after registering a win over Notre Dame.

 
Smiley, who graduated from Holy Cross in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, has lectured at basketball camps throughout New England as well as serving as an instructor at numerous collegiate campus camps, including his alma mater and Williams. He has also written a vast number of articles for a variety of basketball publications. In 2011, he was inducted into the Swampscott High School Hall of Fame.
