TRAVIS TARR NAMED TOP PLAYER IN NCAA DIVISION II MEN’S LACROSSE

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Le Moyne College junior defenseman Travis Tarr (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) has been named the 2005 recipient of the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association's Lt. Raymond J. Enners Award as the nation's Outstanding Player for NCAA Division II. It marks the first time in program history that a Le Moyne student-athlete has received the top honor.

Tarr also received the William C. Schmeisser Award as the Outstanding Defensive Player. Le Moyne College goalkeeper Jared Corcoran (Concord, N.H./Concord) was named the Ensign C. Markland Kelly, Jr. Award winner as the nation's top goalkeeper.

Tarr has been named to the USILA All-America team in each of his first three seasons with the Dolphins. He received first-team honors this season and as a sophomore and was named to the second team as a freshman. The longstick captured every major award from the Northeast-10 Conference, becoming the first player in history to be named the Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and Northeast-10 Tournament Most Valuable Player. In 2005, he spearheaded the defense that limited the opposition to an NCAA-record 3.27 goals against average. Tarr collected 39 ground balls this past season.

Corcoran, who led the NCAA with a 3.50 goals against average, is 28-1 with a 4.52 goals against average in two seasons as the Dolphins' goalkeeper. He stopped 90 of 139 shots (.647 save percentage) in 2005.

Le Moyne (14-1), ranked atop the USILA Division II poll throughout the season, saw its opportunity to repeat as national champions evaporate in a 9-8 home loss to second-ranked Limestone on May 21.
