ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- LeMoyne defeated Nazareth 163-107 in a
non-conference men's swimming and diving meet Saturday afternoon
behind a pool record by Rickey Chidsey in the 200-meter
backstroke. Freshman Dan Walton recorded one of Nazareth's
two victories as he placed first in the 200-meter fly with a time
of 2:36.56, which edged LeMoyne's swimmer by .01 seconds.
Walton also placed third in the 100 meter fly with a time of 1:08.
Senior Mike Fritz had Nazareth's other first place finish as he
placed first in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:12).
After falling to the Dolphins, the Golden Flyers' record falls to
0-5 overall.
Junior Matt Brown added a pair of second place finishes in the
diving events. Brown tallied 187 points in the one-meter event and
173.95 points in the three-meter event. Junior R.C. Weston
also added two second place finishes; Weston finished second in the
100-meter backstroke (1:05) and second in the 200-meter backstroke
(2:26)
Junior Rob Wortel placed second in the 100-meter freestyle with a
time of :58.72 while sophomore Jeffrey Dick finished second in the
200-meter breaststroke with a time of 2:53. He also had a
third place finish in the 100 breaststroke with a time of
1:16. Additionally, sophomore Paul Thompson added a third
place finish in the 200-meter freestyle (2:13) and third place
finish in the 400 freestyle (4:45) Senior Don Curran also had
a third place finish in the 800-meter freestyle with a time of
10:48.
In the women's meet, Nazareth fell 162-138 to LeMoyne in the
non-conference swimming and diving meet. Junior Lindsey
Buzard placed first in the one-and three-meter diving events with
208.55 points and 210.90 respectively. Freshman Jaclyn
Conklin also swam well as she finished first in the 50-meter
freestyle (:28.68) and second in the 100-meter fly (1:09), and
second in the 100 freestyle (1:02.71).
With the loss to the Dolphins, Nazareth's women's team drops to 3-2
overall.
In addition to Buzard's strong diving, senior Hilary Ship finished
second in the one-meter and the three-meter diving events with
scores of 188.30 and 209.15 respectively, while junior Rebecca
Kraft finished third in the one-meter diving event with a score of
170.30.
Other top performers included Erin Rappold who placed first in the
800-meter freestyle (9:41) and second in the 400 freestyle (4:47).
Freshman Sara Weigel placed second in the 200-meter freestyle with
a time of 2:16 and second in the 200-meter backstroke with a time
of 2:36. Other second-place finishes came from junior Jeanne Falco,
who placed second in the 200-meter breaststroke with a time of
2:58.31 following her second place finish of 1:21 in the 100-meter
breaststroke. Junior Lauren McKinney also added a second place
finish in the 200 fly and a third place finish in the 100 fly with
a time of 2:34 and 1:09.77 respectively.
Freshman Ashley Palmer also contributed a pair of third place
finisher as she finished third in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:24)
and third in the 200-meter breaststroke (2:58.45) Junior
Courtney Pilc added a third place finish in the 800-meter freestyle
(10:11) while sophomore Kristen Pedrotti added third place finish
in the 100-meter backstroke (1:16).
The Golden Flyers' relay team of senior Brittany Beane, freshman
Holly Gilligan, McKinney, and Conklin placed first and set a pool
record in the 200 meter freestyle relay with a time of
1:55.08. The Dolphins' Nicole Murphy also set a school record
in the 200 meter breaststroke with a time of 2:49.69
