Lucas Clay Gold Podium NEC Championships

MEN'S AND WOMEN'S SWIM AND DIVE TEAMS SET ONE CONFERENCE RECORD, THREE SCHOOL RECORDS WITH FOUR PODIUM FINISHES AT DAY 3 OF NEC CHAMPIONSHIPS

Geneva, O.H. – The Le Moyne College men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed in day three of the 2026 NEC Championships on Thursday night. The women's squad finished out the day with 209 points, placing them in seventh place while the men's team sits third in the standings with 500 points through 28 events. 

Women's Squad:
Junior Kayleigh Bigwarfe (Glenmont, N.Y./Bethlehem) earned seventh place with a time of 1:56.21 in the 200-yard freestyle. 

Junior Madeleine O'Dea (Milton, O.N./Milton District) earned the first podium finish of the NEC Championships for the women's team and set a new school record in the 100-yard breaststroke, placing third with a final time of 1:03.83.

Sophomore Gabby Williams (Scotia, N.Y./Scotia-Glenville) followed up with another podium finish for the 'Phins, also earning third place in the one-meter dive with a final score of 245.35. Sophomore Alyssa Kearns (Latham, N.Y. / Shaker) finished eighth in the event with a score of 169.85, as well. 

The 400-yard medley relay team of senior Brooke Sommo (Guilderland, N.Y./Guilderland), O'Dea, freshman Katelin Fawcett (Littleton, Colo./ Thunderridge), and Bigwarfe placed seventh in the event with a time of 3:53.97 to set a new school record. 

Men's Team:
Sophomore Alexander Pilieci (Ottawa, O.N. / John McCrae) opened the meet with a fourth place finish in the 100-yard butterfly, coming in at the 49.30 mark. Fellow sophomores Michael White Jr. (Baldwinsville, N.Y. / C.W. Baker) and Jack Milligan (East Islip, N.Y. / East Islip) earned the sixth and seventh spots in the race as well, finishing with final times of 50.25 and 50.96, respectively.

Senior Xavier Silaika (Rexford, N.Y. / Shenendahowa) placed sixth in the 400-yard IM at 4:07.87.

Freshman John Mummery (New Windsor, N.Y. / Newburgh) and White Jr. rounded out the 200-yard freestyle in back-to-back spots, fifth and sixth, with times of 1:40.24 and 1:40.37. Mummery's mark set a new school record in the event.

After tying the NEC record in this morning's preliminary 100-yard breaststroke event, sophomore Lucas Clay (Baldwinsville, N.Y. / C.W. Baker) earned the gold medal and set a new conference championship record with a final time of 53.58 in the race. 

Freshman Neil Ademski (Manlius, N.Y. / Fayetteville-Manlius) also placed fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 55.14, earning him a spot in the USA Swimming Junior Nationals.

Freshman Owen Daniels (Rhinebeck, N.Y. / Redhook) earned a podium finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 50.07 to place third while sophomore Jacob Griffin (Cicero, N.Y. / Cicero-North Syracuse) finished sixth at 52.23.

The relay team of Daniels, Clay, Pilieci, and White Jr. finished fourth in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:18.33.
