Neil Adamski (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) registered a pair of top-two finishes at USA Swimming's Speedo Junior National Championships this week at the William Woollett Jr. Aquatic Center.
Adamski opened his performance at the Championships, which is for competitors 18 years old and younger, on Monday by finishing in second place in the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:01.81. He qualified for the finals by placing second in the prelims with a time of 1:02.03.
On Tuesday, he won the 50-meter breaststroke by over one-third of a second by overcoming a deficit at the midway point and touching the wall first in 27.89 seconds. He set the meet record in the prelims with a time of 27.39 seconds to earn the top seed in the final.
During his first year on the Heights, he earned a bronze medal in the 200-yard breaststroke and placed fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke at the NEC Championship. He registered seven top-two finishes during the dual meet season.
