Syracuse, N.Y. – Le Moyne College Assistant Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics and Campus Recreation Phil Brown announced on Wednesday afternoon the elevation of Abbey Poore to the head coach of the men's and women's swimming and diving programs. She becomes just the third head coach in program history.

Poore joined the coaching staff as the first full-time assistant in the program's history last August. She was responsible for seasonal plan development, alumni fundraising, recruiting, team travel, workout writing and coordination with visiting teams.

In the pool, she helped guide Lucas Clay to a first-place finish and NEC record in the 100-yard breaststroke at the NEC Championships. The Dolphins claimed 13 other medals at the championships, their highest total since joining the conference.

"I couldn't be more excited to name Abbey Poore as our next swim and dive head coach," said Brown. "Having served as our assistant coach, Abbey has been a great asset in shaping our team's success and developing our student-athletes, both in and out of the pool. Her elevation ensures seamless continuity for our program while bringing a fresh vision to guide our team as new full members of NCAA DI sports."

Poore, a Christian Brothers Academy graduate, returned to Central New York after two years on the staff at Washington & Jefferson College. In 2024-25, Poore helped guide the Presidents' men's squad to a second-place finish at the PAC Championships, their highest finish since 2015-16. The men's and women's teams combined for 15 All-PAC selections in 2024-25 after having nine in her first year with the programs.

She began her collegiate coaching career at Carnegie Mellon. She helped the men's and women's teams to each place fourth at the UAA Championships, each of which was an improvement from the previous year.

Poore earned a Bachelor degree in Biology from Drew University in 2022. She was a four-year member of the swimming and diving team and competed in distance freestyle events for the Rangers.
