LE MOYNE BREEZES PAST ASSUMPTION, 19-1, BEHIND BILY'S
FOUR-GOAL PERFORMANCE
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Twelve players registered goals as the Le Moyne
College men's lacrosse team, ranked No. 1 in the USILA Division II
Poll, cruised against Assumption College, 19-1, in Northeast-10
Conference action at the Thomas J. Niland Athletic Complex. Alex
Bily scored four goals and Mike Rabbitt finished with a hat-trick
for the Dolphins (9-0, 6-0 NE-10). Kyle McKay scored the lone goal
for the Greyhounds (2-8, 0-6 NE-10).
Le Moyne was dominant on the offensive and defensive ends for
the second consecutive game. The Dolphins outshot the Greyhounds,
43-20, and handled extra-man opportunities well, converting
two-of-three while killing Assumption's four tries. The Dolphins'
19-goal offensive output was a season-high and the most since they
scored 20 goals against Assumption last season.
Bily sparked a Le Moyne offensive charge that scored the first
14 goals of the game. He scored all four of his goals in the first
half, including two in the game's first five minutes. Rabbitt
netted two first-half tallies and Andrew Carducci, Brian Cost,
Brian Welch, Mike McDonald and Mark Bowler all found the net once
in the first two quarters.
Nick Gatto, McDonald and Drew Bezek continued Le Moyne's scoring
streak in the third quarter before Kyle McKay netted Assumption's
only goal. The Dolphins scored the last five goals of the game with
scores from Rabbitt, Corey Bulken, Bowler, Bob McIver and Jack
Mooney.
Bezek, Tim McLean, Mike Malone and Marc Cizenski held together a
densive unit that has yielded one goal over the last two games.
Doug McIver was perfect in goal for Le Moyne, collecting four saves
without allowing a goal in first-half action. Bay Stroker stopped
two shots and Tom Kralovenec picked up a save in second-half play
for the Dolphins. A trio of Chris Bird (6 saves), Dan Shea (3
saves) and Scott Vogel (1 save) registered stops for the
Greyhounds.
McDonald dished out four assists in addition to his pair of
goals and moved past Brandon Spillett '05 into sixth place on
the school's all-time scoring list. With 13 more points, the senior
will join Le Moyne College's four-member 200-point club, with Jim
Nee '99 (247), Greg Downey '94 (223), Ryan Spillett '03 (220) and
Jeff Evanchak '94 (209). He currently ranks third on the school's
all-time goals list and fourth on its assists list.
Dating back to last season, the Dolphins are riding a 20-game
win streak. Le Moyne wraps up the home portion of its regular
season schedule when it hosts Northeast-10 Conference foes Pace at
4 p.m. Tuesday and Southern New Hampshire at 1 p.m. Saturday.
