BALTIMORE, MD - Led by All-American goalie Doug McIver
(Altamont, N.Y. / Albany Academy),the Le Moyne College
men's lacrosse team defeated Limestone College 8-4 at Homewood
Field on the campus of Johns Hopkins University. The victory
improves #2 ranked Le Moyne to 2-0 on the season. Limestone
falls to 1-2 on the year.
Senior midfielder Brian Welch (Ithaca,
N.Y./Ithaca) led the Dolphins on offense with three goals
and two assists. Mike Rabbit (Simsbury, Conn./
Simbury) added two goals and assisted on another.
Sophomore Matt Chadderdon (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn)
chipped in with two goals and Jack Mooney (Webster,
N.Y./Webster Thomas) tallied his third goal of the year to
round out the Dolphin attack. For the Saints, Thomas Langan and
Mike Poerstel each netted two goals.
Limestone's pre-season All-America attackman and Conference
Carolinas player of the year Brendan Storrier was held scoreless on
the afternoon by the relentless Dolphin defense led by long-pole
Drew Bezek (Lowville, N.Y./Lowville). Through two
games, the Le Moyne defense has yielded only eight goals.
Le Moyne returns to action on Saturday, March 14th as they
travel to Rochester, NY to face #4 Mercyhurst on the campus of St.
John Fisher.
