Alfred, N.Y. - Senior Nicole Murphy (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) and sophomore Katie O'Donnell (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem) won two individual events each and teamed on a relay victory to lead the Le Moyne College women's swimming and diving team to a 162-120 win over Alfred on Saturday afternoon. In men's action, the Saxons downed the Dolphins, 176-110.
In the opening event of the meet, O'Donnell and Murphy teamed with Cathy Kennedy (Troy, N.Y./Troy Catholic) and Maggie Donovan (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) to top the field in the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 1:59.73. O'Donnell went on to add wins in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:15.33 and the 500-yard freestyle in 5:23.32. Murphy picked up individual wins in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:10.28 and the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:36.15. Sophomore Mary Chidsey (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) was also a dual winner on the afternoon. She registered wins in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:05.03 and 100-yard butterfly in 1:05.63. Senior Sarah Casey (Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Valley) was victorious in the 200-yard backstroke, while junior Sarah Salanger (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) touched the wall first in the 1000-yard freestyle in a time of 11:18.53. Sophomore Meghan Shea (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee/Bridgeport) earned Le Moyne's final win of the meet by scoring 195.45 points.
On the men's side, sophomore Drew Acquaviva (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem) won two individual events and was apart of a relay victory. Acquaviva was victorious in the 100-yard backstroke in 55.11 seconds and the 200-yard backstroke in 2:01.59. He teamed with freshman Scott Thieke (Jamesville, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt), sophomore Andrew Dearing (Kenmore, N.Y./Canisius HS) and junior Sean Hosford (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) to close out the meet with a victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:33.32. Junior Jerry Dumary (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) won the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:19.68, while freshman Tim Gallivan (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) won the 200-yard IM in 2:07.92.
Le Moyne returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 23 at RIT at 1:00 p.m.
