Cortland, N.Y. – Junior Katie O'Donnell (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem) won three individual events and teamed on a relay victory and classmate Drew Acquaviva (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem) won two individual events and combined on a relay win, but the Le Moyne College men's and women's swimming and diving teams were swept by Cortland on Saturday afternoon at Holsten Pool. The Cortland women won 159-137, while the men topped the Dolphins 161-118.
O'Donnell registered three of the Le Moyne women's five swimming victories. She won the 200-yard butterfly by over eight seconds with a time of 2:14.29, the 100-yard freestyle in 56:08 and the 100-yard butterfly in 1:00.86. Junior Sarah Salanger (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) recorded the other two swimming wins on the afternoon for the Dolphins. She posted a time of 11:23.38 to top the field in the 1,000-yard freestyle and touched the wall first in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:32.28. O'Donnell and Salanger teamed with Jacqueline Daly (Middletown, N.Y./Pine Bush) and Mary Chidsey (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) to win the 200-yard medley relay in 1:55.43. Junior Meghan Shea (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee/U. of Bridgeport) swept the two diving events. She scored 224.40 points in the one-meter diving event and 230.25 points in the three-meter diving event. The quartet of Maggie Donovan (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego), Maureen McDonough (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Joseph Hill Academy), Maureen Donovan (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) and Allie Scorzelli (Mexico, N.Y./Mexico) won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:48.10.
On the men's side, Acquaviva registered two of Le Moyne's five individual wins. He touched the wall first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 55.14 seconds. Later in the meet, Acquaviva won the 200-yard backstroke in 2:00.64. He closed out the meet by teaming with freshman Tyler Olson (Warners, N.Y./West Genesee), sophomore Tim Gallivan (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) and senior Sean Hosford (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) to win the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:30.33. Sophomore Scott Thieke (Jamesville, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) joined Acquaviva with two individual victories. He captured the 500-yard freestyle in 5:12.29 and the 200-yard IM in 2:07.06. Hosford picked up Le Moyne's final individual win in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 56.90 seconds.
Le Moyne travels to Northeast-10 Conference foe Bentley on November 6 at 1200 p.m.
