SWIM: DOLPHINS SWEPT BY NORTHEAST-10 FOE BENTLEY

Waltham, Mass. – Senior Sean Hosford (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) and junior Drew Acquaviva (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem) won two individuals each and teamed on a relay win, but the Le Moyne College men's swimming and diving team was edged by Bentley, 154-135, on Saturday afternoon at the Dana Center pool. On the women's side, junior Katie O'Donnell (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem) won two individual events and teamed on a relay victory, but the Dolphins fell to the Falcons, 172-108.

Acquaviva, the reigning Northeast-10 Conference men's swimming athlete of the week, swam the opening leg and Hosford swam third as they teamed with junior Joe Taylor (Essex Fells, N.J./West Essex) and freshman Tyler Olson (Warners, N.Y./West Genesee) to win the meet-opening 200-yard medley relay in 1:40.56. Hosford picked up his two individual victories by touching the wall first in 1:50.90 in the 200-yard freestyle and in 49.40 seconds in the 100-yard freestyle. Acquaviva was victorious in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 55.38 seconds and the 200-yard backstroke in 2:05.03. Sophomore Scott Thieke (Jamesville, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) joined Hosford and Acquaviva with two individual victories. He won the 1,000-yard freestyle in 10:47.63 and captured the 200-yard IM in 2:09.26. Taylor registered the win in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:28.16, while Olson posted the top time in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.48 seconds.

O'Donnell recorded Le Moyne's only two individual wins on the afternoon. She touched the wall first in the 100-yard backstroke in 59.86 seconds to win by over four seconds. She later captured the 200-yard backstroke in 2:09.21 to edge Bentley's Anne Kaduboski by just 0.68 seconds. To close out the meet, O'Donnell teamed with classmate Mary Chidsey (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) and seniors Sarah Salanger (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) and Maggie Donovan (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) to win the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:43.95, Le Moyne's fastest time in the event this year. Junior Meghan Shea (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee/U. of Bridgeport), the reigning co-diving athlete of the week in the conference, scored 246.50 points to win the three-meter diving event.

Le Moyne returns to the pool at Northeast-10 Conference opponent Pace on November 13 at 2:30 p.m.
