Box Score Brookhaven, N.Y. – Junior left fielder Nate Reynolds (Johnson City, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) had two extra-base hits, scored two runs and drove in two runs to lead the Le Moyne College baseball team to a 6-2 win over the University of Bridgeport on Monday afternoon at Dowling's Golden Lions Field.
The Dolphins got on the scoreboard first with two runs on one hit in the third inning. After senior designated hitter Matthew Ciraco (White Plains, N.Y./Perkiomen School) drew a two-out walk, Reynolds tripled to right center to drive in Ciraco. Reynolds then raced home on a wild pitch.
Le Moyne added three runs on five hits in the fifth inning. Graduate student second baseman Vincent Redmond (Ithaca, N.Y./Lansing/Garrett College) singled to left field with one out and moved to second on a single to left center by Ciraco. Reynolds followed with a double to right center to drive in Redmond and push Ciraco to third. Following a pop out, senior right fielder Kody O'Connor (Mexico, N.Y./Mexico) doubled to right center to knock in Ciraco and Reynolds.
Bridgeport broke through with a run on two hits in the bottom of the sixth inning. Second baseman Brock Roggie led off with a single to left field and moved to second on a ground out. First baseman Mike Olszyk followed with a single to center to drive in Roggie.
The Purple Knights cut into its deficit with a run on two hits in the eighth inning. Once again, Roggie led off with a single and took second on a ground out. After moving to third on a wild pitch with two outs, Roggie scored on a single to right by designated hitter Michael James.
The Dolphins recorded a run on two hits in the top of the ninth inning to end the game's scoring. Ciraco singled to center with one out and then stole second base. After a strikeout, senior center fielder Zack Wiley (Toluca Woods, Calif./Crespi) singled to right field to plate Ciraco.
Sophomore southpaw Jon Dunn (Honeoye Falls, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) earned his first win of the year after striking out three batters over six innings of work, while yielding just one run on six hits. Sophomore Conor Nolan (Syracuse, N.Y./Corcoran) earned his second collegiate save by tossing the final three innings, while allowing one run on three hits and striking out two batters. Brian O'Keefe took the loss for the Purple Knights after giving up five runs on eight hits over five innings of work. Ciraco, Wiley and graduate student shortstop Ryan Mahoney">Ryan Mahoney (Clay, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) joined Reynolds in posting two hits.
Le Moyne (5-6) wraps up its four-day trip to Long Island with a single game at LIU Post on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m.
