Paulie Goodness (Palmyra, N.Y./Palmyra-Macedon/Finger Lakes C.C.) have earned NEC All-Conference honors, as voted up by the league's 12 head coaches and announced by the conference office on Wednesday afternoon.
Cannon was one of three outfielders named to the All-NEC First Team and Goodness was one of three outfielders tabbed to the All-NEC Second Team.
Cannon earns All-NEC honors for the first time in his career following one of the best regular season performances in the program's history. He has slashed .437/.500/.700 as a starter in all 45 games played with 83 hits, 18 doubles, 10 home runs, 133 total bases, 63 runs batted in, 59 runs scored and 51 stolen bases. His 51 stolen bases are the most in a season in the program's history, while he ranks second in hits, third in batting average (top two came in 1993) and total bases, fourth in RBI, fifth in runs scored (third in Division I play), tied for fifth in doubles (tied for fourth in Division I action), tied for eighth in on-base percentage and 16th in slugging percentage (best since 2008). His 51 stolen bases, 1.13 stolen bases per game and 1.84 hits per game are the second-most in Division I this season and the best marks in the NEC, while he ranks third nationally in batting average (first in NEC), tied for eighth in RBI per game (1.4, second in NEC), 13th in runs per game (1.31, second in NEC), tied for 16th in hits (first in NEC) and doubles per game (0.4, second in NEC) and 35th in RBI (tied for second in NEC). He has 28 games with at least two hits, including nine with at least three hits, and 16 games with multiple RBI, including nine games with at least three. He has registered a hit in each of the last 16 games, his longest streak of the season.
Goodness also earns his first career All-NEC honors. He has slashed .387/.514/.479 with 63 hits, 10 doubles, 49 runs scored, 24 RBI, 31 walks, 15 hit by pitches and 40 stolen bases as a starter in 42 of 43 games played. He ranks third in a single season in the program's history in stolen bases, tied for third in hit by pitches, sixth in on-base percentage and 17th in runs scored (tied for 11th in Division I action). He ranks second in the NEC in on-base percentage, stolen bases and stolen bases per game, third in batting average, fifth in hits per game (1.47), seventh in runs per game (1.14), ninth in hits and tied for 10th in runs. Nationally, he is fourth in stolen bases per game and 28th in batting average. He has 19 games with at least two hits, including seven contests with at least three, and six multi-RBI games. He registered a hit in 23 straight games from March 1 through April 19 and reached base safely in 34 consecutive games from March 1 through May 9.
Le Moyne (22-24, 22-11), which won 10 of its last 11 NEC games, begins pursuit of its first NEC Championship on Thursday against top-seeded LIU at 12:00 p.m. at Skylands Stadium in Augusta, N.J.
