Manchester, N.H. – Sophomore forward
Rachel Terry (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) scored midway through the first half to lead the Le Moyne College women's soccer team to a 1-0 win at Southern New Hampshire University on Saturday afternoon in a Northeast-10 Conference contest at Larkin Field.
Following two shots by each team over the opening 24 minutes of the first half, the Dolphins took advantage of a Southern New Hampshire foul to get on the scoreboard. Junior forward
Kelly Ristoff (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill/Siena) blasted the free kick at the goal, but it was saved by SNHU goalkeeper Autumn Scanlon. However, the ball got away from Scanlon and Terry was able to knock the loose ball into the back of the net for her fourth goal of the season and first since the opening weekend of the season.
The Penmen increased their offensive pressure in the second half, registering seven of the half's eight shots. The Penmen put five shots on goal in the half, including three over the final eight minutes of the game, but junior goalkeeper
Tori Corsaro (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) was able to turn away all five shots.
Corsaro finished the game with six saves to record her sixth shutout victory of the season, which ties the single-season program record set by Suzanne Mullen during the 2000 season. Scanlon's only save in the contest was on Ristoff's shot prior to Terry's goal. Southern New Hampshire posted a 12-7 advantage in shots, while taking all eight of the game's corner kicks.
Le Moyne (6-5-1, 4-3-1 NE-10), which has recorded 13 points in the conference standings for the first time since the 2010 season, visits American International College on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
